Being the best rapper goes way beyond techinical aspects ( see 2pac being the undisputed GOAT), Jay Electronica is laughable. Lupe just dropped one of the worst albums this year, so hes surely laughable as well. None of these new niggas done enough to be best. Honestly, theres is no best right now and nobody truly stands out.

i think if Lupe can release a perfect or classic album, he can be considered of the best in this generation

yeah thats how i feel. theres no rapper whos on a commerical level thats really killing it. j cole can be dope but his album was above average at best. if he woulda took his best tracks off friday night lights and sideline story then thats something to talk about.

yeah kanyes more of a producer tho. he's not a rapper on that level that u would expect the best to be. his albums are always on some next level shit but i would say he's the premo (that can rap) of this generation. lupe/jay elec are the 2pacs.

J. Cole is nowhere near the best. i was the hugest Cole stan a few months ago. Cole could have recorded himself in his sleep and I woulda thought it was the shit. But Cole World was a huge disappointment for me. I have over 10,000 plays in total for all the Warm Up songs according to my iTunes and since the 27th I've only played Cole World a few times. It was not a good album, and anyone saying it is a good album is trying to defend a man who fell off hard from his grind.

I would nominate Kendrick Lamar or Ab-Soul. Kendrick Lamar is closer because he as the appeal and the support. Ab-Soul has been fighting for himself from support from small artists like Murs and such, but this dude is REAL as fuck. Listen to this guy's music and NO ONE will sound honest compared to this man.

the black hippies are making some of the best music in hip hop. id say kendrick is a step ahead of ab-soul but yeah if kendrick keeps up his grind he could easily be the best. section.80 is still slept on so hard by people it makes me angry. but u cant deny that j cole can rap. sideline story was a huge disappointment but with all the lack of support jay-z seemed to be giving him prolly didnt help. not tryna defend it but i think the niggas gonna drop a mixtape and remind people that he still got it.
