before you neg rep, look at his subject matter. There isn't a whole lot of diversity.

His debut album Capital Punishment had some of the most diverse subject matter you can fit on a rap cd.

I can see how some say Big L was overrated b/c he was mainly a punchline rapper.

I can also see how people say he was underrated b/c he never really blew up in the mainstream.

IMO he was underrated because even tho he was mainly a punchline rapper, he was nice as hell with those punchlines.

on top of big l taking lord finesse's style, he also ran with the "nasty nas" style.

the thing with big l is, it's not even fair to compare him to nas/jay/common/etc because his lack of material. they all have duds(kingdom come, blue print 3, volume 3, nastradamus, streets disciple, electric circus, UMC, can i borrow a dollar), but they at least have a catalog to judge by. i'd even rate a rapper like nature as high or even higher than big l.

big l is overrated but not really its just internet heads...but lets keep one hunnid..dude did not even get any play like that until he died then they started playin "flamboyant" on the radio and that one joint he had with showbiz and a.g got played on rap city...but dude didnt have any impact in 95 which was the peak of the nyc gritty era and them niggaz was droppin heat..he came up short..it's like when niggaz say mac dre was one of the best..his catalog is not all that great and a lot of his shit is wack on the real

cypress hill...these dudes got old quick and aint been relevant in rap since their 1st album

scarface/geto boys...respect them yes...i like face cause he def got good songs but album wise..he aint never made a classic and a whole album from him gets old but he does have great songs i just don't feel he is the undisputed greatest rapper from the south

the lox...i never did really get into their music like that although i do think styles p is nice..i'll admit i slept on him..as a group though they never really did it for me..i thought they aight but that's it

You ever heard "The Diary" or "The Fix"? I don't see how u don't think those are classic albums. Geto Boys had a few classic albums IMO

No Limit did have a lot of garbage artists, but Mac, Soulja Slim, Mystikal, Fiend, C Murder, and a few others were dropping heat at the time.

just curious what there is to debate Big Pun being overrated does not mean he is not talented did not have some nice tracks or anythign of that nature just that some give him a higher level of praise and position then his body of work and self earned. The point I was making is the poster claimed Big Pun Subject matter was limited... I simply stated that his DEBUT contained various songs that touch on many topics so I found it Ironic. If you want to say Big PUn is overrated fine no problem to just say subject matter is the reason that is something that can be debated. IMO there other reasons one can use to say Pun was overrated some of which I touched upon.

U made it a point to quote me (2nd time u done it) FIrst and throw weak disrespect when i was not addressing you in the first place.
