Its hard to get the MVP to a dead rapper... But you could say BIG's LAD was the biggest of the year... But it was a dope year, No Limit had it on smash too, but:

You put up War report 2, but Wu should also be an option, Wu forever was as big as anything that came out that year, they blew that tour though

i think wu tang forever and ll phenomenon was my shit in 97

and still aeom, fugees and all the dj shit like clue and flex

Ice Cube ran '97? How?

Bow down went plat in 1997. No response from the East Coast.

Honestly no one cared. I liked Bow Down and Gangsters Make The World Go Round though. I actually gave that album a listen a few years ago and I thought it was good.

No one cared, or was the east just too punch drunk from the work Pac gave them in 96?

Nah no one cared trust me.

Just gonna say BadBoy as a whole....Shyt was everywhere...But Wu, Camp Lo, CNN got just as much spins from me...

Ice Cube

East coast bias thread.

It aint bias if its correct. Niggas be like 'SEC bias' like they aint win 7, 8 titles in a row

Shitty rapper and attention whore, but Puff dominated the game at that time. Shit, I even did some of those corny ass dance moves during that time (i.e. Been Around the World Remix).

I lived in Boston and New York in 1997 and I can honestly say NOBODY heard Westside Connection and nobody cared either.

For the record, Rodney O and Joe Cooley made an album called Fuck New York and nobody in New York responded because nobody in New York cared.

No one even cares enough about Boston to even mention it in a rap.

These dudes in here are lowkey hating. When Dre, Snoop, and Pac got credit for their respective years it wasn't "biased" then; but giving Bad Boy their props for their year is now a problem.

They have an inferiority complex towards the east coast

Yeah but I moved to NYC in the summer of 97 and nobody in New York had heard of Westside Connection either.

That's not true if you had cable you more than likely saw their videos on MTV, BET and The Box, they even appeared on the Jamie Foxx Show. Hot 97 didn't play Westside Connection though.

Musically it's probably Biggie, but callin him mvp the year he got shot and killed seems like an oxymoron no Quincy

Puff and bad boy rode that Big wave the rest of the year even if puff and mase's albums were dope.

Gotta give it to Missy. She's unique and dope, timbo should be co-MVP cause those 2 go hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly

Does this apply to Tupac in '96?
