I'd say, in terms of music, Pusha T, J Cole, and Lloyd Banks. I became a fan of J Cole slowly over the last year and just finally decided to download Friday Night Lights and I fuck with it. Banks album is fire, and Pusha was killing almost every single G.O.O.D Friday verse he got

This actually is a lightweight difficult topic for me on the strength that '10 was a great year for hip-hop, in terms of quality lyricism.

(No particular order)

K.R.I.T.'s Wuz Here

Cole's Friday Night Lights

Nas and Damian's Distant Relatives

Diggy's Airborne

Janelle Monae's ArchAndroid

Budden's MM4

Mr. Yaowa's (Ortiz) Free Agent

Big Boi's Sir Lucius

Royce's Bar Exam 3

Big Sean's FF3

CyHi's Royal Flush

Wale's More About Nothing

Reflection Eternal's RPM

Ghostwridah's In Love With My Future

Kanye's MBDTF

Em's Recovery

The Roots' (Black Thought) How I Got Over & Wake Up!

B.o.B.'s Adventures & No Genre

Banks' H4M2

And that's just the artists with actual bodies of work (mixtape/album) that I can draw from. Lupe and his S.L.R & B.M.F. (Can't wait for LASERS) I felt Curren$y on some PT 1 & 2 joints. Wiz on some Kush & OJ. The young boy Tyga had my ear here and there. Pusha on his G.O.O.D Friday grind...

Overall though, I think Ye and Em had the most impact on hip-hop in terms of quality works with lyricism at the helm.

If '11 is anywhere NEAR what '10 was I'll be a happy dude.

My faith in hip-hop has been restored after this year.

In no particular order, IMO.....based strictly on lyrical quality......

Black Thought (Has everyone forgotten bout any track off of How I Got Over?????)

Eminem

Lupe

J.Cole

Joell Ortiz

Royce

Not to jump on the Kanye haterwagon.....but dude got a lot of ground to cover before he can make up for that last bullshit album he put out, we aint forgot about that autotune shit that quickly!!! And what hes released so far aint doin it for me. Has anyone heard that verse on the Dueces remix? It's, at best, lazy punchline rap. And btw I been a Ye fan since day 1, I think he has the artistic quality to put some ill shit out soon....but lyrically, he aint back there yet

I agree. It's just so many spitters in the game right now. The possibilities for Hip Hop in this new decade are endless.

Too bad all you hear now in days are dance songs and Lil Wayne

Yeah, as far as Rap is concerned, Urban radio is dominated by Electro, Dance, Pop Rap & Crunk Rap but some of it is listenable (I like Dirty Money's Last Train to Paris and a great deal of Drake's stuff, a few Nicki songs & some Wayne here and there. Kanye is still making great music as well.)

But 2010-2020 is the Independent era for most of the rappers listed in this thread and most MC's in general. Do for self is the mantra, and fans have to hold up there end as well and we'll turn out great.
