I was born in East Providence, Rhode Island. I lived there until I was four and then moved to Massachusetts. From what I understand there's a decent amount of Black folks and Portuguese in Providence. In fact, when I was younger, when a rap show would come to town, rather than playing in Boston, the show would be at the Providence Civic Center, which is a 45 minute drive from Boston. I saw Run DMC, Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince, EPMD and Public Enemy there in 1988. Then I saw another show at the Providence Civic Center in 1991, it was Public Enemy, Geto Boys, Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff, Kid and Play, Naughty By Nature, Leaders of the New School, Oaktown 357 and a few other people.
As far as Vermont goes, I once saw an article in the newspaper where they talked about the Black community of Vermont. They interviewed ALL the Black people in Vermont for the story and it was only a couple of pages.
