Nas is the Best of all time, I have made at least 5 CDs using his unreleased music that are all amazing. If I made one with all the best it would be a classic

Just a couple years late to this poll but keep hope alive

2016 Jay still the undisputed greatest MC even if the albums he drops aren't good musically overall like Kingdom Come, Blueprint 3, Magna Carter Holy Grail he still be spittin on these albums and always delivers lyrically and brings the best flows. Very few MC's can do what he does lyrically Nas, Rakim, 3 Stacks, Bis, Black Thought, Treach, Royce. His best albums Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint, Black Album, American Gangster no other MC has albums as lyrical as these

All the rappers mentioned would not be who they are if it wasn't for Rakim.

So James Naismeth>>>Michael Jordan?

Him, Jay, Nas, 3 Stacks, B.I.G, Bis, Treach, Slick Rick, Busta, Royce are the only respectable answers if we talking strictly lyrically

I still say Melle Mel is The GOAT. He laid down the blueprint.

Having said that, 90s rappers got better marketing and promotion. Also, Rappers in the 90s were signed to major labels and had better production budgets. They had major labels hiring the best producers for their albums (Jay, 2Pac, Biggie, Nas,)

Considering that the 90s rappers had better marketing, promotion and production than their 80s predecessors, 90s rap albums were better, but I wouldn't say that they rapped better, or that they were better rappers, they just had budgets that 80s rappers didn't have.

Rakim changed the way rappers did things, he upped the bar, then Nas came and did the same thing in 94 with Illmatic, I don't care if Rakim said Jay was better than him I disagree, Jay is soooo overrated, I have said it many times on here and I will say it again, Jay has a whole generation of fans brainwashed, I really do believe that.
