Cosign. Syllables and bars have very little to do with each other. If you speed your style up to 16th and 32nd notes you can squeeze a lot of syllables in your bars like Twista or Busta. Or if you rap slow with quarter notes and eighth notes you can rap slow like Snoop and still come off dope.
