It's one thing to be influenced, but in some of those photos, Nicki looks identical to Kim. In terms of looks, Kim was the prototype of Nicki. Is Nicki dope? Yes, but she isn't doing anything that hasn't already been done before image wise or buzz wise. Lil' Kim was on that whole Barbie tip from '97-'02 rocking the blonde wigs and what not.

What Nicki did was take Kim's look and Missy's animated style w/ a little twist of Foxy, stir it up and here we have Nicki Minaj. Dope, successful combination that will be interesting to see how nicki grows and evolves with it in the future.

You tell me to do my research, I think you need to do her research. Kim is known for being lazy and kind of a puppet. Her style wasn't even her style. Every big force behind her is what made her. Biggie. Un. Diddy. Misa. David LaChapelle. Without these people, there would have been no Lil' Kim. They made her the black Cher and without that kind of force she's just the black Joan Rivers. Kim's whole image and persona in her music was a gimmick and it was created by Biggie & others. Nicki's gimmicks are her ideas.

And either way I don't see the problem with Nicki using elements of something Kim hasnt touched for over 10 years.

She was supposed to be more like the black hip hop version of Marilyn Monroe, i.e, rap's biggest sex symbol.

A gimmick is a gimmick manufactured or otherwise. Every artist has stylists who put things in their ears as to how to wear their hair, clothes, etc. The same applies to Nicki. She looks totally different now than she did before.

As for Kim being created by Biggie, Diddy, and Un, that may be true from when she first stepped on the scene, but the Kim of '97-present evolved. Biggie was dead by the time she started w/ the blonde wigs. Then she moved on to the long flowing black weave/wig. LOL @ Lil' Kim being the Black Cher. Originally, Kim was supposed to be this Hip Hop Madonna type figure: Hip Hop's material girl.

The pics that I posted are pics from 2005 up until right before Nicki blew up. Nicki isn't new when compared to A-List femcees like Kim, Foxy and Missy. When compared to B-list femcees like Trina, Jacki-O and Amil, yes she's a breath of fresh air because she's more than just image and is actually bigger than a B-list female emcee. She's the biggest female rapper to debut in 10 years. The last new female rapper to have this kind of buzz is Eve. The only thing that I agree with you about is Nicki being Hip Hop's own Lady Gaga. I do see her having that kind of success depending on what type of direction she goes in musically. Nicki is Lady Gaga to Kim's Madonna. Just like Lady Gaga borrowed from Madonna's style, Nicki borrowed from Kim's.
