I think the thing about it is questo really just isn't understanding or at least doesn't go into the idea that in this country nothing really remains organic since it's so alluring to allow outside influences come into whatever you have going because those people bring an infusion of money .... it's capitalism ...eventually when something gets popular enough and begins to disperse over large groups of people ...investors see that ...and they see the dollar signs that come along with that ..
So yes it's true that when those outsiders come in and invest in a culture that's so raw and uncensored ...that culture may lose some of its rebelliousness because when you bring in business ..you now have more structure ... that's just the cost of assimilating into capitalism ....I mean it is what it is ... I suppose its reasonable to understand why someone from his era probably longs for the untamed rugged energy which shrouded hiphop during the so called "golden years" but at the same time Hiphip has evolved to the point where ...He and His hiphop crew can be be the house band on the tonight show... I mean that's the dilemma ..with every door that has closed so to speak ...more have seemed to open ... dudes actually have the opportunity to eat off of different facets brought forth by hiphop culture ... And I don't see how that being a fact = hiphop "failing" black America ...I think that's a gross overstatement ...
But he said there's two more parts to this essay series ...so I'm looking forward to them... I want to see how he fleshes out his theory
