I think it's a classic song because of the lyrics and message in the lyrics really deep lyrics, had a lotta emotion, was really personal, had a classic hook, classic flow, classic beat, great delivery. Can relate to the Song. 1 of those Songs that helps u through difficult situations

how are u gonna explain why its classic by using the word classic? are all personal songs classic? don trip letter to his son classic? will smith just the two of us classic? nas daughters classic?

Of course not all personal songs are classic. U gotta make your personal songs engaging and interesting to the listener make them catchy while having the depth, personal lyrics, message. U also have to have the charisma. That is a natural gift only certain song writters have

It's like having speed if u an athlete whatever sport u are in speed is natural u can coach other things learn other aspects of a sport but u are born with speed or u simply don't have it.

the lyrics aint amazing and the message is what exactly? u still yet to explain that one to us...hey ur boy said cuz u dont understand him dont mean that he nice

They are amazing to me because i feel lyrics with a message, emotion, story telling, passion delivered in an engaging way are the best and are what makes great lyrics. What is said in the lyrics what you are saying and meaning in the lyrics are the most important factors in great lyrics

The message is about his responsbilities as a father, the difficulkties of being a parent, the legacy he leaves on his daughter wen he dies, his daughter being the biggest motivation and inspiration in his life, how much he thinks about his daughter where ever he is, how his life has affected his daughter

Listen to the Song then judge it

i have heard several times as well as many other parental songs. im not sure what makes it a classic. a good song but not close to song others. he choose to be a star...he chased his dream so why is crying about being gone? he should do a better job showing his daughter he loves her more than he loves u his fans (hey he said she said that to him). the nigga need to listen ed o.g. be a father (i bet u never heard that song huh?) lmao.

i will give u credit though...u been reading some of the recent threads on goats cuz now u are throwing the word charisma around and trying to sell us on em's charisma now.

its not a classic song...nowhere near a classic song...dont take my word for it...look at the responses here..majority rules and the reason is voting...its a loud no!

It all comes down to taste it's a classic Song imo 1 of the best Songs i ever heard

Songs like this are why i listen to Hip Hop

It connects on a personal live and as i said it helped me get through some difficult times in my life

ok got it ur father wasnt there but that doesnt make it a classic song...its a song u like. u alone do not decide what is classic. ur not really a hip hop head..ur an em fan. if he made a country album u be all in the country forums talking about he the goat and garth brooks and kenny rogers are trash to people he loved that shit all they life. i been hip hop from the beginning. i love the shit and u and ur thinking disrespect this shit.

niggas on this forum been hip hop since beatboxing and break dancing and every other day u come on here to tell them em has 50 billion trillion classic songs. sad part is most of those niggas would agree with u and say em is a great rapper (which he is) but that aint enough for u.

u do realize if em was to read these threads he tell u to seek help. its not healthy

Well it did reach top 5 on the billboard chart so obviously a lotta people like it for it to have been such a huge hit reaching the top 5. It's 1 of his biggest and highest charting songs ever actually

ok up to ur old tricks again with the chart topping shit. jay z got more number 1 albums them em does so jay is the goat! u do agree with this dont u?

No i don't

The reason i bought up it being a top 5 charting single is because u said i like it that doesn't others like the song just because i do but i gave u a concrete example that many people like it besides just me as it is a song a lotta people purchased to chart so highly

U don't have a single chart that highly unless a lotta people like it and i imagine this being common sense is that the people who do like it do for the same reasons as me some prefer this type of hip hop and these type of songs are why they listen to hip hop

and i use ur argument to say many people like jay z...more no. 1 albums than elvis. hell the good white folk worship elvis. u can find at least 5 of them right now who will swear they saw him alive yesterday. so by ur logic jay z should be a god. charts dont make classics nor do they make goats.

o yeah i never said the song was wack...said it aint a classic and the people posting in this thread have told u that. ur response is well i like it so its classic....ur a sore loser

It just comes down to opinion i think it's a classic song while u don't. U bought sales up not me u implied just because i like it that don't mean others do but i gave u a concrete example on how many people actually purchased the song

Regardless of sales even if it charted way lower or hell even if hypothetically it didn't chart i still think it's a classic based on the quality regardless of sales

I never brought up sales. i said to u that the reason has spoken and said its not classic. ur rebuttal was how it charted. i said ok then jay z is goat cuz we know u hate jay.

you should be able to explain why something is classic but not just to u but to ur generation. is it capturing ur era? will this be a song u play for ur kids to say yo this was us back in the day? did it have people going crazy in the streets? did it have rappers running back to lab saying we gotta step our game up? a classic combines so many things. its more than just a song u like. u are selling urself so short when it comes to hip hop. u so focused on being right that u havent brushed the surface of the great music that has been made. u talk about shit that can get u thru... man niggas been making songs for years that hit u hard and do so many other things.

my wife and i can actually play games where we dont talk...we just play songs...hip hop songs to express different feelings to each other...open urself up.

Reason posters are entitled to their opinion however a succesful song most people in the real world love>>>>>>>>>>>>Song disliked in the real world but loved in the Reason lol

U gotta put it in perspective fam

Yeah i played this song to different family members and not only did they love the song but they got into Hip Hop because of this Song and other similar Songs like aunts, uncles, cousins. I'm talking even people over 60 year olds wen i showed them this Song they become Hip Hop fans because they liked it and wanted to explore futher songs

So it has had a huge impact on relatives my son loves this Song as well i don't play him a lotta Hip Hop because so many have a negativity, violent lyrics, glamourizing violance but because this is a powerful uplifting positive Song i played it to him and he loves it

It's a type of Song that encourages other rappers to express their raw emotions, express their pain and heartache like he did on this Song.

It's also a Song that is liked by a diverse range of people i seen people from the streets love this song, poor folk, rich folk, old people, young people, black folks, white folks. It's a Song everyone relates to so it's a special Song in that regard how it touches people from all backrounds and enviroments

Other Songs i played were

Mockingbird

Cleaning Out My Closet

Lose Yourself

Like Toy Soldiers

Beautiful

I just said it got them into wanting to explore hip hop more and listen to more hip hop songs. I wouldn't swear swear on my sons life if it wasn't true. As i said it surprised me as well but that's the beauty of music wen u show people certain songs they end up loving they wanna hear more of the genre

That's a positive as it gets more people into Hip Hop. It's not an isoloted incident i'm sure many others have relatives or friends who were never into Hip Hop but became fans wen they were plated certain songs

It happens more than u think

A lot of y'all are just hating on the T/S. This song is nowhere wack, and definitely better than average. You have to give respect where respect is due, Em did his thing on this song.

i guess it happens but i have never seen anyone convert to hip hop after hearing one song...em is the goat. on the other hand these people that u speak of are not hip hop heads. they pretty much only listen to em like u.

i cant believe u put that on ur sons life

U ask a questions and wen u get the answer u complain. Why ask questions and then complain wen u get honest answers, get examples given to u on questions u asked? U don't have to think a Song is classic u entitled to your own opinion and others are entitled to their opinion

But no poin in asking questins but wen they answered and u don't like the answer u tart getting upset. Better to just leave it at u have a different opinion to those who think the Song is classic or good.

And the fact i played the same people Songs like 3 A.M, Hello, Stay Wide Awake, Big Weenie, Evil Deeds, Bagpipes From Bagdad and other Songs from him and they never liked these Songs at all proves your theory completley wrong.

Simple

ok im done...u said u got 60 y.o. mutha phuckas listening to hip hop all because of this song...yup u shut me the fuck down...thats some serious shit right there...im out!

No word of a lie on my sons life i played this Song amongst others that were similar type of songs to relatives that never listened to or had interest in Hip Hop before hearing this song and they liked it and became fans of the genre

That even surprised me i would have never imagined they would like Hip Hop

ok im gonna respond one last time...now u said played other songs like it but couldnt name one song like it earlier in the thread...with that said i dont even want u to answer that. i want u to read ur last 2 post.

ur are talking about em like he is the messiah or something. i played this for lost folks and they seen the light. they were saved by em...hailelujah (thats a joke...get it?) its really unhealthy and u have a child of ur own. smh...u take care of urself over there

It happens more than u think

i really hate myself but i just wanna help u so i continue to torturer myself thinking u will have a light bulb moment soon. u played a bunch of em songs for them huh? listen seriously if i was ur friend or family and u played em to me and said what do u think then i probably would omg its great. i would say that because i would be scared at the damage it would do to u mentally.

i guess it happens but i have never seen anyone convert to hip hop after hearing one song...em is the goat. on the other hand these people that u speak of are not hip hop heads. they pretty much only listen to em like u.

i cant believe u put that on ur sons life

Simple

there is nothing u could say that would upset me. u are funny to me. great comic relief for the ic. i shouldnt have engaged u this long because now ur talking crazy and im starting to worry about ur mental health. u have like a cult follower type of love for em. thats disturbing and i want u to realize that.

u have a problem with people that have different opinions from urs and its why u make an em is god thread and jay is the woat thread every other day...stop it...get some help please.

We gonna have to leave it @ we have different opinions and different taste in Hip Hop cuhz. I have critisized some of Em's music and albums so that proves wat u saying is wrong as i been objective and stated that he has a wack album and some wack songs

Just understand it's a difference of opinion simple as that. If u don't wanna take my word on this atleast listen to what @NothingButTheTruth said

@semi-auto-mato‌ Let it go bruh. You can't have an intelligent conversation with someone who isn't intelligent. You can refute her points til your fingers hurt. You can disprove her theories with cold, hard facts. You can even use her own points against her to disprove her opinions. Doesn't matter. It's really quite remarkable once you get past the initial annoying phase.

She really believes her opinions are important and they make a difference. She's like the Eric Cartman of the IC. Just let it go cuzzo. You can't make her see the light. No one can. Not even her neglected son.

Just do what the rest of us are finally doing: Click on her name and hit ignore. You'll save yourself a bunch of WTF faces and headaches.

The song is mostly about touring and being away from his daughter and being an absentee father.
