Some of the classics, in hindsight, should've been 5 mic albums and weren't but to me they lost all credibility when gotdamn Lil Kim got 5 mics.

I used to buy albums a whole lot and anything source said was four or better, I was buying... Back in the day

The first album I didn't purchase was that made men album. I went to the local record store and saw a ton of those on the shelf... And remember thinking who/what the Fuck is a "Made Men?" I asked the cashier and he said he never heard of em either but they got 4.5 mics in source.

So I pulled the magazine off the shelf to see the review for myself. I had no idea who benzino was at that time, so I obviously didn't know he was involved with ownership of the source, but regardless I knew something was fishy.

Thankfully I didn't buy that shit. That definitely was the start of me questioning the source.

But for all those who say east coast bias.... There were so many groups I wouldn't never heard about if not for the source. One in particular was 36 mafia. They had tons of ads with that guy with the stick in his nose, I swear there were like five 36 mafia ads in each issue. So I finally bought an album And loved it instantly. So the source did put a lot of East coast ppl onto shit they never woulda known.

His garbage albums kept getting 4 mics and when he finally got the cover, The Source's credibility was shot to hell.

I believe the albums get written about by one person, but the whole writing crew comes in for a rating.

In the benzino situation, the writers had given it a 3 rating and someone wrote up the review. He/she then submitted the article to be printed in the magazine.

Benzino saw and read the review, changed it to 4.5 and rewrote the review so that Made Men looked like the next coming of wu tang. The writing staff didn't know anything was changed until they actually opened up a completed issue and saw the changes l. But by that time the magazine was already in the stores.

I believe a bunch of ppl quit the source right then and there.
