Whats the sense in giving a gift card instead of just giving cash?

I rather get that or money than a gift 90% of the time.

Because with a gift card you can basically be flirting with the idea of thoughtfulness. I usually give everyone gift cards. Everyone likes money but its essentially saying "I will not devote an ounce of energy into seeking out the perfect gift for you". Gift cards are a step up from that because you can at the minimum say I got my foot off the ground a little with some brainstorming about what you may actually LIKE, im just not gonna go any further than that to pick it out for you. Gift cards are awesome

quick and easy shows u care a lil bit plus not everyone is around the person they are buying the gift for everyday and doesnt know what you might want or what you need and a gift card allows the person to get the gift they want instead of you buying something they might have or not want....

The more i think about it the less sense it makes. Whens the last time you went in a store and your purchase came out to an even increment (50, 100, 150, etc).....not neva....so nlggas either end up going in there pocket to pay the difference or leaving with a stupid balance (1.53) on the gift card.

cash you dont have that problem.

and what about the gift cards to the stores you dont even want anything from....nlggas either end up selling the gift cards for about half the worth (i.e. wasting half of your money) or having to waste the money in a store they wouldnt even consider have been spending money in..

If the gift card is a high enough amount, you don't have to worry about not having pocket change to cover the cents. Straight cash homey is not always the preferred if the recipient would rather fancy a gift card.

I don't know. If you walk into a store and the amount of money on your gift card is higher than what you have in your wallet, then obviously the gift card is the preferred method of payment.

But in the back of my mind I take it as, "Im not giving you cash because u might spend it on drugs..."
