Even though he was in main events and had won titles a lot before this; Orton became THAT nigga officially in 2009 when the Viper gimmick was born. Up until that point he was just another top guy, he became a huge star that year and he was the hottest on the roster and hotter than he ever been before....

And then HHH beat him at WM 25.

When I was on sabbatical from wrestling his match with Undertaker at WM 21 was the eye opener for me as well.

refusing to surrender the world title at triple h's request and spitting in his face

punting niggas head off

the viper gimmick, giving the entire McMahon family that work

it's realized a while back orton never had his WM moment. I guess you can say him beating cena and triple h in a triple threat was his moment. I didn't expect that. but WM25 should've been his moment. I don't know why vince or creative didnt put orton over that night after the blood feud him and hhh were having. it killed him momentum imo

I think when Evolution turned on him that made him great in the sense that he was able to use that pedestal to catapult himself into the legendary Legend Killer gimmick.

98% of superstars wouldn't have been able to use that stage to their advantage.

To me Orton had way more GOAT moments than Cena. When him and Edge teamed up as Rated RKO to feud with DX, his feud with Taker, feud with Triple H, feud with McMahon Family, being the leader of The Legacy, matches with CM Punk, first feud with Cena, his feud with Christian, his feud with Mick Foley, him disrespecting legends; shit dude had more great moments to me.

Orton probably could've been if he didn't fuck up so much in the past but I believe he's what the rock was to Stine Cold (I don't know if that's accurate but that's how it always came across in my mind)

That was great storytelling and probably pushed the whole "mental" thing up a whole nother level.

I can see why Vince says the roster needs to step up, but it's 50/50. They can choose to step up all they want, but vince calls the shots.. This is what gold looks like when someone steps up and given that push.

After the terrible feud with HHH in late 2004 the Taker feud helped regain his momentum. But the moment when Orton really became Orton was actually summer 2007. He was easily the hottest act in the company at that point.
