what makes you listen to new artists?

I don't do hype and i think mixtapes are a waste of music and water downs hiphop. For me it's just show you can make songs and have some presence to you, too many of these rappers coming up are all punchlines and aint rapping about shit. The content aint that important to me, you could be rapping about cocaine or Mandella, just make it dope.

Some new artists stand the test of time and continually make appearances in places that I check... I'll be honest, I don't give new artists a chance very often. There are too many these days and most are trash..

now see, thats the first response i seen anywhere that is exactly how i feel. thats why my fave artists are those like budden, drake (not the singing songs lol) ti etc. artists that get personal in their music, you can relate other then going to the club and listening to those "club" songs.

thats another new answer i have seen. mtv jams does break alot of new music, and 106 & park. even though on there, it be late as hell..cuz in the south here in texas we heard it months before it got there.

it's like that in atlanta 2. ppl say atlanta shit only be a short lil fad but datz bullshit. folkz was doin the pool palace YEARS before lean w/ it, rock wit it came out. by the time it got to tv, tha shit was old in atlanta.
