Hendrix;4720 said:Come on fam. Everybody clearly does not believe in god. and people don't even agree on an exact definition of what "god" means. Science isn't a religion because science involves proving and questioning information. Much of religion calls for faith and not questioning what you're told (at least through my experiences).

While talking to her, her voice changed to that of a man saying "This is God, don't worry that everything is going to work out, you just need to promise me that you will start to change". I woke up, went to court, got off with 2 year probation and that just deepened my faith..

so you knew it but you didn't believe it?
purecomp;4904 said:That's my point. The word "god" is so broad. Some people believe in the Big Bang, evolution, YHWH, Allah, etc. All of these are answers to the question everybody is trying to answer. There is a higher power. People say that the Big Bang created the universe. The word "god" can apply to the Big Bang also. Or the conditions that caused the Big Bang. The word "god" gives people the stereotypical image of an old ass white guy with a dumb long beard in the sky on a throne when in actuality the term describes a higher power in general. The better question is whether "God " is conscious or not.
BOSS KTULU;5685 said:No, dummy. People don't "believe" in the Big Bang. We DISCOVERED it. It's a thing that actually exists in the real world and we can analyze and examine it. God is just how dumb ancient people who didn't know shit about the universe answered a variety of questions. Why's it raining? Well, some really powerful person in charge of the rain is doing his thing. But of course, today we know how rain actually works. And we know how the universe started. The end. God's dead.
You're not too bright, are ya?purecomp;6737 said:So you're arguing about a dead guy on the internet? Smart move.
Nobody's telling you to pray to the Big Bang or that it has something to do with your morals and your eternal fate. Nobody's saying the Big Bang has a consciousness. And yeah, I said believe. Big deal. So people discovered the Big Bang. It is still what people say created he universe. "God" is the creator. If the Big Bang is the creator, what makes it different from "God"?
Your conclusion doesn't follow from its premise here. Oh, who am I kidding. You don't know what those words mean.I'm not saying that it is. My point is that science keeps trying to prove things. So that means there is always something that science cannot yet prove.
Wrong. So how can you say that science disproved God? Because you want it to? Sounds like a personal vendetta to me. Nobody has ever disproved God.
You don't know what a theory is, you don't understand why science doesn't deal in absolutes like religion, and you don't seem to understand that we're not trying to control peoples' sex lives, we're not trying to takeover government at every opportunity, we're not brainwashing children, and we're not trying to murder cartoonists with axes because they lampoon our prophets. There are only theories. Until you can show me some science that without the shadow of a doubt states loudly and clearly that there is no God, then you are just stating what you believe as it is a fact. Ain't that what you Atheists get mad at religious fanatics for? Spreading what they believe but promoting it as fact? Hypocrisy at it's finest.

Wrong.
Y'all used to demand we believe God created the universe in literally 6 days. Then science proved that didn't happen, so you started saying it was all a big metaphor. God gets smaller and smaller with every day of scientific research, that's why we call him a God of the Gaps. You have to keep shoving him further and further into the increasingly small gaps in our knowledge of the reality of the universe and at this point, he's evaporated.
We're nothing like you.

Oh right, you can't. You're just saying that because you're very dumb.

Sorry I just blew all your minds.
