What is your purpose for going to church?

i occasionally go to the temple. mostly to interact and socialize with other members of my religious community or if i feel i'm losing touch with my spirituality. but usually my daily rituals at home are enough.

no lie sometimes i would be sitting in church looking at all the people in there wondering, how many got shitfaced last nite? how many had a recent abortion? how many are alcoholics/drug addicts? who's here only to appease a loved one? how many are sluts?

then i wonder what kinda dirty shit the preacher and his wife, or the people up there singing and playing music get into in between services and sundays. especially knowing the kind of shit i get into. my ex used to text me dirty messages about what she wants to do to me when i get back to her while im sitting up in church.

i'd leave service and go back to my regular scheduled program no matter how much i 'felt' the sermon. so i stopped going.

I originally went because of my parents. Then I became an atheist when I was about 16.

I dived back into faith a few years later, but recently I've found myself WANTING to believe more than I actually do. The more I read the bible, etc, the less I believe.

Now the only time I'm in Chapel is family occasions like weddings, etc.

i wasnt raised in church, i started goin cause i realised the robbin people, runnin trains on broads and sendin people to the icu just aint what's up.

i picked up the bible when i was 18 and prayed to god to show me a different way. before i couldnt do right but since then it seems like i cant do wrong. turned from a school dropout to a college graduate... believe me there is not one day i'm not grateful to god.

you won't find many people who are really in the streets that dont believe in god. seeing the devil makes you believing in god...

Went a lot when I was younger. Both my mom & my dads fam are very religious. As I've gotten older Ive strayed from organized religion. I believe in a higher power but I don't think he cares if I call him Jehovah, Allah, or whatever these other religions are calling their god these days.

Last time I went was a few months ago though. Only b/c I was home visiting & I didn't wanna hear my moms mouth so I grinned & bared it.

I get my info by translating the languages that the original scriptures were in...Something that pastors don't do..There are ancient tablets that pre-date the bible by thousands of years..Christians can sit there and kick that whole genesis creation story but can't tell me how the egiptians built the pyramids or how crop circles were formed

1) I never said I believed in any one deity. It doesn't matter what you believe in as long as you benefit from it in a positive way. But your too hateful and close minded to realize that it never mattered whether or not Jesus was white or black or if the damn Egyptians were some Asians. Its all about whether or not this doctrine you follow helps to move on to a better place. the hate you show or should i say the lack of empathy you show is not a good sign man.
