Well, it's been a year and two months since I graduated and I still don't have a job in my field. I really think it has a lot to do with my location. CT is not the place for someone with a journalism degree. I have been looking real hard as well. I have had a few interviews but still no luck. Any suggestions?

Yea, you're going to have to start looking elsewhere. I assume you have a job, just not in your field. If you haven't started, then start stacking up some bread. You're probably going to have to make a big move soon. Good luck on your search, and don't get discouraged.

I have been looking for jobs in NY but I still have not had an interview there yet. I have been saving to move out for a while. If I could I would move Manhattan but it's way too much money to live there. I hope I can get a job without having to move. I currently work part time.

I know your degree is in journalism & mass communication, but have you ever thought of working at a bank? I gotta homie I went to school with who majored in that field, and now he's a regional manager for a bank. I know it's not in your field per se, but it's going to be hard to find something in that field. Just throwing out suggestions.

Thank you for the suggestion. You're not the first person to tell me to try a bank. At this point I will try almost anything that is full time with benefits.

Walked into a job interview today and they started off with questions about my driving record. I had a misdemeanor DUI on my record so I had to tell them and they instantly turned me down because of it. They said their company insurance wouldnt cover employees to drive vehicles on the property smh. Dude told me that I had the experience I was looking for as he was walking me out the door.......

I hate it. First few interviews I had where that method was used were trash interviews on my end. You have to practice before those type interviews. Maybe the night before, list some situations you've experienced from previous jobs and list out the situations, the tasks, the action you took to solve the task, and the results. When you're listing off results, these companies like to hear numbers; I.e, I saved the company 200K by decreasing waste by 8%.

sound like you an engineer.......or manager of some kind....I can understand those kinds of question for someone at your level..but Im still a blue collar foot soldier....I just follow established procedure. anything out of the ordinary I report to upper level management. I feel they are worthless to me and the jobs I apply for.

The career I have now had the star method. To get ready I basically just memorized, so to speak, everything I've done in my work life up until that point. That way I felt zi wad ready for any question they asked. My time in the military was a big part of my answers as well.

Not trying to be presumptuous or cute, but I thought this was pretty awesome resource. Please share, and support these companies.

just got offered a job about 3 hrs away but the only thing is that its a limited scope position and that it was initially supposed to be a 5 month position but the supervisor told me that it will become a full time position so im kinda conflicted on if I wanna go out there and they dont make it full time

Haven't you been looking for work for some time? Man, if the pay is decent, I'd take it. Move out there and work your ass off...get that perm position. I'd even still be looking for work while doing this job. Gotta start somewhere...

Nigga you better hop on that shit. YOU are going to determine whether they make it a full time position or not.
