It's Mine By Mobb Deep

Prodigy: I’m sitting in the crib watching the Scarface movie again and I hear that part in the beginning where the boats are coming in from Cuba to Florida and I’m like, ‘Holy shit! Why nobody ever took this part right here? These niggas is stupid out here.’

”I ran to the studio again and said, ‘Hurry up son.’ [Havoc] sampled it and niggas was like, ‘Oh my God, these niggas did it again" and I was like, ‘Yo man, Nas gotta get on this shit because the shit is too ill. This is one for Nas.’ We called him up and the nigga said, ‘Hell yeah.’ Nigga heard the beat and went crazy. He was like, ‘Yo, this shit is ill right here.’

"Is that your chick" - jay was allegedly dickin down some rappers girl n blatantly asked him a question in form of a catchy rap tune hahahaha...dope thread btw

Did you hear about those kids shot up that school in Colorado?

Dope thread I love reading articles about how classic songs and albums were made. Some of the stories I remember

While working on BP Jay was at the studio and let one of Kanyes beats play on but it took him a while to come up with the lyrics. So as the beat played on he sat on a couch and saw the clip to the Fiesta remix come up on tv. He sat there watching it saying nothing to nobody, then before the clip ended he stood up and said hes ready now. Went to the booth and recorded Heart of the City in one take

Pac recorded Ambitionz Az a Ridah the day he came out of jail I think it was his first song in freedom

Big and Jay recorded Brooklyns Finest the day they met for the first time. Puff made them meet they didnt know each other and were hesitant to record together. Maybe thats why some of their lines sounded like they were going at each other. After recording their verses they both bounced and never came back so the producer (forgot who it was) had to come up with the hook.

When Big made Notorious Thugs he was anxious cause he wanted to perfect Bone Thugs flow so he kicked everybody out the studio before recording his verse. One Bone Thugs member cant remember which one got drunk and was passed out in a van outside the studio. They woke him up and brought him in, he rapped his verse and went back to sleep lmao

Correct me if I'm wrong

Beanie sigel- feel it in the air

I read somewhere that sigel's friend got murked and beans basically recorded the song shortly after while coping with it...hence the paranoia and distrust theme in the lyrics

C-Murder - Down 4 My Niggaz

KLC made this beat and originally offered it to Silkk. Silkk laughed and said "call me back when you got a hit." Cee heard it, wrote his verse and called Magic to get on it.

From there, Snoop showed up to the studio with Tha Eastsidaz and when KL played the track they all started C-Walking and begging Snoop to get on it. Snoop's original version was going at Death Row (this song was recorded in March of '99 so The Chronic 2000 and Death Row's Snoop smear campaign were in full swing). Snoop's entourage said the verse was "too much" so he ended up writing the verse we hear to this day.

I believe that was Clark Kent and Layzie Bone, respectively...
