What is a good college GPA to uphold?

If possible, 3.5-4. You need to take Japanese as well. If you plan on being a lawyer, do something now that can separate you from the rest once you graduate. Morehouse has a connect with Harvard for law school. You could do that as well. I know a lot of Morehouse grads and undergrads. The ones that were successful showed signs of it as college students.

If you are a sociology major you best be good at Spanish, and you better get it up to 4.0 if you want to learn anything and get a career.

Whatever maintains your scholarship.

If not that, then whatever maintains your status as dean's list. Usually 3.0

Don't fall below a 3, college is too easy for that, stay focused.

And yes, your major GPA is more important.

Well, they say not to put anything below a 3.0 on your GPA. but as high as possible. Don't do like me and pretty much take an entire year off cuz your GPA was already high.

I dont really plan to use my degree in my career.....I sorta already have a job waiting for me....but Im getting a college degree just for the prestige of having it...it's a long/odd story.

But I may consider going to Law School after undergrad.

Sociology degree is a fucking joke, if you can't maintain at worst a 3.0 in that shit then that's said. That major is as bad as Hospitality Management, automatic A's.

Some students say "C's get degrees" So a 2.5 is decent but some companies do look at your transcripts, as well as grad schools so that's why I always maintained over a 3.5.

You should try to at least stay on the deans list.

I will probably reside around like a 2.5-2.8 overall and probably a 3.3-3.7 in Sociology courses.....

Between a 3.6 and a 3.8

3.8 is not that much of a difference from a 4.0. Employers will still be impressed. You can still get into the top schools. But....the pressure of having to get a 4.0 (straight A's in every course) is off your chest. 3.6 is lower but, you're still competitive to do anything you want.

i graduated with like a 3.36 or something. whatever nigga fuck it. i had way higher in my major, and i skipped 80% of some classes my 1st year cause i didnt want to wake up.

anyway, GPA barely matters if youre only getting a 4 year degree. my speech professor told us in 25+ years he's been out of college, only one employer has ever asked about his GPA.

With your major I think you need a masters to get a half decent job, so a 3.0+ is a must just to get accepted into grad school.

This is pretty much what I figured...

I will maintain a good GPA in my major, it's just that some of the random required general education classes I have to take such as Spanish 1 and 2, College Algebra, Pre-Calc and World History will DEFINITELY drop my overall GPA.....

Also I'm going to a pretty prestigious college so I'm not really pressed over my GPA, as long as I keep over a 2.5(preferably 2.7) overall I will be satisfied....
