Blue shells were overrated. The claim was that they would hit the guy in first place along with everyone in between you and him, but it often missed EVERYONE in between. I preferred the triple-red shell actually. Before you fire them, the shells acted as a forcefield protecting you from bananas and projectiles. Then when you were ready to attack, you had 3 shots, so you could take out up to 3 people ahead of you, or you could hit one guy with all shells. As long as you had a reasonable range on the person in front of you, the red shell would hit dead on.
