Well i really dont understand how ppl expect Rappers to Retire. See once your a Rapper your forever Rapper. You could be doing some random shit and bars pop in your head (And if they are hot how can u let them go to waste?). The day when a Rapper truly can stop making music that's how u know his craft was forced. And when u love Hip Hop u can't stop making music and Listenin to Music... even if that means u have to search for the good shit.

Well stated...

If Hov really retired from rap, some other bozo is gonna claim King of NY, or best rapper alive.

I'll support Jadakiss, Nas, orGhostface for the running. Other than these three, whome else can uphold hiphop's standards?

There would be a huge void like homeboy said, but it's kind of Jay's own fault. He's an icon, but it doesn't seem as if he's positioning anyone to continue on his legacy, the Roc, and successful NY rap.

Jay-Z has tried harder than anyone in the game (next to 50 or P diddy)to put people on. The fact of the matter is that few artists in the game are worthy of taking his place, so hence the struggle. As I've said before, the closest to Jay right now are Eminem, Drake, and god help me from saying this, but possible Lil Wayne. Their talents are the few in the rap world that really stands out. Jay-Z can't babysit people and prop them up to be the next king of NY or whatever region.

I agree, but who has Jay signed FROM NEW YORK that's capable of taking the throne? Jay signed Jadakiss onto a sinking ship and he knew it.

A better question is who is even worth discussing for the throne. Everyone keep saying put NY rappers on and all im saying is, WHO? The only NY young nigga making noise is Maino, Red Cafe, etc and they are garbage imo.

Shit I don't even know what would happen, on one of his tracks I think it was Reminder he was like I'm making millions and I'm still the hardest working rapper out. Maybe some of the whack rappers would step up their game to be the next Jay but probably not.

Once again I agree and you can add Fabolous to that lackluster list as well.

Jadakiss had his chance. A sinking ship can be saved with a good captain. Jada just proved that he can't carry NY on his back. 50 did it, and yet some people say Jada is better than 50 Cent, lmao....

Either way, there is no one in NY that can hold the rap game down right now. A new star needs to be born, and he's out there somewhere
