What could be done to curve the violence in black communities?

To start eliminating violence in the black and brown ghettos I think these things need to happen:

1. Better schools in the hood. The schools in the hood should have more resources or atleast equivalent resources to the rich neighborhoods.

2. More structured families. 2 parents in the house makes a big difference.

3. Education needs to be culturally embraced and promoted.

4. More job opportunities for people from poor communities.

5. More activities for young people like dance classes, graffitti classes, hip hop classes, chess classes, martial arts classes to give the kids something else to do other than get high, join gangs, and get chicks impregnated.

Good thread. A lot of things could help (better schools, etc.). But the two most important things may be getting rid of the guns and getting people to stop placing so much value on being hard.

this is pretty good. BUT WE STILL HAVE TO ROOT OUT THE CORRUPT BLACK OVER-CLASS (crooked politicians, police, school board, lawyers, consultants, city appointed financial planners and managers.) they are the ones stealing all the "legal money."

we can't get the funding or personnel SECURITY AND RESOURCES together because the talented tenth is not working on our behalf in unity. the talented tenth likes to use "gangsters and thugs" as a scape goat when they just filled the vacuum that BLACK FLIGHT LEFT.

We need to bring crack back in the community and start beating our women.

It's the only way.

Oh...and more rap. Defiantly more rap.

I honestly think it's too late. There is no "black unity" since blacks have integrated throughout much of society. More blacks live in America than Black America. Plus not all black people are doing bad BUT most black neighborhoods in the inner city are.

If you want to maintain a better neighborhood you have to clean and then maintain it. Simple.

Most people act like sheep, once you set a standard things become habitual. If everybody in the neighborhood cuts their grass you will cut yours eventually or someone will address you about it. The small things go a long way.

The deterioration of many black inner city neighborhoods IMO has a lot to do with the political figures that represent those areas. If the leader are willing to treat their constituents with tough love things usually change for the better.Real shit, let's be honest you can't baby sit a neighborhood and teach everyone how to be model citizens but if you provide opportunities for those who want to change and set zero tolerance for the ones who are too far gone things will improve. Look at NYC look at Boston and a whole host of other cities that have reduced crime in the last 10 years. The only problem though is that the bad elements are usually displaced somewhere else and become other peoples problems.

It all come downs to education, discipline, and being a leader. The black community has too many dumb nigglets tryna be followers, ashamed of being smart, and have no discipline. The reason why you see violence in the hood is because people believe is fast money, people have nothing to live for, and no accountability (stop snitching nonsense).

by getting to the roots of the problems

what are people fighting for? what are people dying over?

it's not a fluke that most of the crime happens where the poverty is

which brings us to why are people poor which in turn makes us look at the education system

There always will be poverty. Poor people are needed in order for the middle and upper classes and society as a whole to exist.

There are billions of poor people all over the world. There are many communities across the planet much poorer than any US black community with no crime.

Poverty is an issue but is only relevant when drugs, and a certain mindset is present.

i think you gotta start with the kids. i mean really raise the babies. its too late for the 14 yr olds and up
but if you can get the babies to read books, teach them the value of education, show them what the world really thinks of them and theyre family as well as teach the importance of community
and have some funding and activities for them, hell i even go as far as teaching them math they dnt havta know

if you do this, you will see a change in 10-15 years
if only 40% went to college and 20% actually made it and gave back like you gave to them
that would be powerful

we harass/kill each other in the neighborhoods and have become our own public enemy

I agree. there must be A CLEAR SEPERATION BETWEEN BLACKS WHO ARE INTERGRATIONISTS AND BLACKS WHO ARE NOT. we have to draw a line because we do not, I repeat, do not have the same goals. Intergrationists have ran black America into the ground during they're era (1970-2010.)

the only way to bring black power & unity back is by investing in, providing security for, & consolidating black concentrated urban areas to generate small & mid level independent business with survival education (Detroit, West & Southside Chicago, Gary, St Louis, East St. Louis, Baltimore, D.C., and many other black enclaves that have been neglected by the black over-class & forgotten by America in general.

I still find monolithic thinking as hilarious as a solution to this problem

especially when you look at how even overseas in Black majority countries, violence is a problem as well because it is cultural

I think when people provide alternatives and don't glorify gunplay, then violence won't be such a significant problem

but especially in inner cities mofos tend to make it out and never come back

plus there are collective mental issues in our community that are never addressed.........the roots of many self-reinforcing problems SMH

black Americans and blacks in other areas are ruled by an OVER-CLASS.

in Port-au-Prince there was Poppa Doc.

in Detroit we had Kwame Kilpatrick. Different Toilet, same shit.

blacks in no part of the world are in clear control of our own resources. there is always someone not of our ethnic group above us, telling us what to do and specifically appointing the followers and corrupted to the top positions, while taking out those who don't follow the status quo.

also, blacks in the third world never had the opportunities black Americans, Canadians & Brits had. However, the majority have deep rooted self hate & a strong sense of love for everything European (this is Stockholm syndrome.) so our leadership caters to the oppressor and not the oppressed.
