Chill

Ima say it's a 3 way tie with Mississippi, Alabama, & Arkansas.

They redefine "city"?

Sip got Krit & Banner

Plus Big Sant be killin his guest features too so u buggin with that one

Banner hasn't seen commercial success since "Get Like Me" which should've been a Chris Brown track. Krit is underwhelming. Never heard of Big Sant. Im pretty sure I'm not the only one. But think about it, hip-hop been cooking since when? And Mississippi has only 2 noteable artist.

Not even 3million ppl live in the entire state of MS

Over 7 mil live in Bay area alone

Name 5 niggas out of 3 million that can rap from Mississippi though

-David Banner

-Big Krit

-Big Sant

-Afroman

And... I couldnt tell u one of their songs but i know they famous....

Rae Sremmurd

I thought he was from Palmdale???

I've never liked any rap from New Jersey. I know you said city, so pick a city in the state that's produced some hip hop artists.

Fugees & Naughty By Nature the only 2 i fuck with from NJ

Fugees the only ones I mess with from there. Outside of them, its trash. Philly was a close second.

I don't like to argue opinions but...

Black Thought or Beanie Sigel by themselves automatically eliminates Philly from the running of the worst city IMO.

Aight, throw the Luniz in there too.

So that's what, 4 outta 50. Y'all batting avg looking like Larry Holmes.....

I'm from DC and I don't like most of the shit I hear from my city.

Can't say if its in the running for worst city though.

We do this every time y'all start trying to bash the bay area. Niggas can't name too many artist of the current gen of Bay Area rappers. Niggas stuck in the 90s and early 2000s when it comes to The Bay. G-Eazy putting in work. J. Stalin and the Livewire camp still has a huge following. Nef The Pharoah was getting radio spins out west. I just don't get y'all some times.

Yo how people hate on the Bay??? Some of the greatest groups (imo) came out of there... THE COUP for starters dropping mad dope conscious and knowledge with a Bay style...

The answer is Boston.

The two biggest artists to come out of Boston are New Edition/Bobby Brown/Bell Biv Devoe and Ed.O.G. I give Boston props for New Edition, especially the song Poison by Bell Biv Devoe. That song is a party starter and will have any dance floor packed.

However, that was more than 20 years ago. Sometime in the mid to late 90s a label called Brick Records was founded in Boston. They signed some local cats and started putting out records and albums. Some of the rappers signed to Brick were Mr Lif, 7L and Esoteric, Akrobatik and Insight. They claimed to be underground. This was around the time of Jay Z, DMX and Ja Rule. Also No Limit and Cash Money was just starting to take over. Late 90s/early 2000s.

So the stuff coming out on Brick was supposed to be like the stuff coming out on Rawkus. Stuff like Talib Kweli or Mos Def. But the problem (part of the problem) was they had no bass. Zero. Their music didn't sound professional because there was no low end. But to make matters worse, they didn't make any hits. Talib Kweli had The Blast and Get By which both got played on Rap City/MTV2. Mos Def had Ms Fat Booty which also got played on BET and Rap City. The guys from Boston didn't know how to make a hit record so they were rapping over backpacker beats with no bass.

You can go to Youtube and check out their videos. I'll post a few so you know how bad it sounded.

So after the backpacker rap didn't work they started doing Southern Bounce music

Let me say this about the Bay Area.

I'm from the East Coast and the Bay Area has a different vibe. You have to go there to experience it. Alot of the music coming out of the Bay doesn't translate well on the East coast, the same way some East Coast Hip Hop doesn't translate down South or on the West Coast.

I remember being in Cali after I had just graduated from high school. I told them that people don't listen to Too $hort in Boston and they got visibly upset. But its true, nobody in Boston listens to Too $hort, at least not when I was living there. I don't think I ever heard Too $hort's music being played at a party or a nightclub.

Having said that, the Bay gave us some decent music.

And Too $hort's music sounds a lot better now that I'm older.
