"If you were money, man, you'd be counterfeit..."

That shit was cold lol...

Cultural impact that benefited hip-hop should go to BDP vs Juice Crew and then the NWA breakup...

BDP layed down that gangsta rap foundation which obviously you still see today...

Juice Crew had the 2 emcees who inspired Nas and Jay which kind of speaks for itself...

Both crews DNA is still felt throughout rap music and those other battles listed all benefited from this one...

NWA breakup is a very close 2nd...

In all sincerity I completely agree with you down to 1 caveat which is I feel the NWA wars resulted in more musical talent shining and getting a voice in the game then any other beef while the BDP Juice Crew showed the art of a true Hip Hop Battle and provided the Blueprint for battles to come. Either way those to me are the top 2 most beneficial beefs to the Game...

It literally came down to influence vs talent and tomorrow I could put NWA in front lol, that is how close it is imo...

Good drop but I wonder if anybody has the flyer from that night. It was Dec 24, 1981.

I was wondering why i didn't see Moe Dee name on the flyer being that he was the host.

I voted for Nas/Jay but the Busy B vs Kool Moe Dee battle should be up there. That's how it all started.

I'm not voting because, no battle was more important to MCing than Busy and Mo Dee.

i was coming to mention this, this changed how niggas rap lmao

and i dont know about yall, but i was BORN into this shit, i didn't stumble upon it. my daddy was not too long ago arguin wit my cousin about moe dee beating ll

thats another top ten battle...who won? idk, but how ya lije me now still gets played lmao. ..

Great thread. I was gonna say nas vs jay but that was on a small scale, we got 2 classic albums in Stillmatic and Blueprint, plus the resurgence of Nas...thats about it

But w/ BDP? Ngga...Mfers might still be rappin like Curtis Blow if not for that. That was the record that took the gloves off rap and made it ok to be personal, and not rap w/ the same 'hip hop, a hippity, ha ha!' style.

on tha low the kool moe dee vs busy bee battle was the blueprint for what KRS did but KRS did it on wax and changed the course of rap after that.

a lot of those other battles might not have even happened on record if it wasn't for that.

but roxanne vs utfo should be on this list just to get an honorable mention.
