I can see why people don't vote however I can't support it. You vote for the best option and use the situation to the best of your ability.

Revolution is something that will likely all ways fail because no one has a plan of what happens after just look what happened with the Arab spring and occupy movement no one could agree with the direction they wanted to take so it failed. We have a vision of what we want how we achieve it but no vision for the aftermath

When has a true revolution ever happened?

I don't vote.

I make a very conscious decision not to vote. I believe that actively participating in a system of oppression is actively participating in my own oppression. I do consciously participate in what I believe to be my own and our "Freedom" and "Truth" through action though. I'm pretty active in my neighborhood and community in various ways, but I don't vote. I can't hold someone else accountable for my changing my circumstances and conditions. I have to hold myself accountable and actively and consciously change those conditions.

No matter what any policy or political outcomes there will be, I will always strive to position myself for success.

Is voting a way for us to avoid personal accountability in our lives? Because if everything goes wrong, it's someone else's fault. I get to blame you. But when things go right, well, I was the one that chose that position for you to make things right.

I believe action changes things. Action only. It's the peoples actions that create these so called rules and policies.

So, community comrades. Can we change things without voting? How?

Good question, you articulated the voting scenario perfectly. Any black person that votes and sees that as progress, might as well be participating in their own oppression.

I would say you're already half way there with your concept of action only as, that is the answer. One thing you can look into is practicing susu with a few other black people who have similar interests as yourself. You can then use those resources to invest and create infrastructure and programs etc. Just make sure your business is straight, so you can help the people/children, yet create wealth at the same time. Once your group reaches a certain level of success, you can reach out to other groups who are doing the same thing and expand.

You ever thought about getting rid of the citizenship?

I never considered it. What would this do?

I would say you're already half way there with your concept of action only as, that is the answer. One thing you can look into is practicing susu with a few other black people who have similar interests as yourself. You can then use those resources to invest and create infrastructure and programs etc. Just make sure your business is straight, so you can help the people/children, yet create wealth at the same time. @NothingButTheTruth

I never heard of susu until right now, but when I googled it, that's exactly what I'm building! Wow that's powerful.

Mission Statement/Goals of this organization

It's a collective of individuals, businesses, and organizations who trade, invest, and utilize each other’s ideas, services, and resources for the purposes of establishing thriving and sustainable businesses, nonprofits and co-ops that directly address and service the immediate and long term needs of the community.

It's a cooperative organization dedicated to innovation and creating opportunities for the well-being growth and stability of self, family, community and future generations.

It focuses on traditional and alternative methods of recycling community dollars and building community economy.

It promotes our individual and collective responsibility to create “the market” if there isn’t one, and to build more if there is.

Everything's still in it's early stages but there's consistent progress and growth (even if it's not at the rate or pace I want). I still need help with making the logo. I have the idea and some designs on paper. I just need to get it transferred to computer. I'm building the website and I should have a Facebook for it by next weekend. After that it's on.

I also started designing an original simple universal symbol for "recycling black dollars", so when we see it at a storefront or on a product we know we're supporting the community. And we'll know that that business also invests in the community. I'm open to ideas on this too.

My mind is kind of blown right now with that susu though. UOENO

Put pressure on your local governments, thats the legislation that actually affects you. If you can get enough people together on a state level, change actually has a chance

I'm talking about things we can apply or do, collectively or on an individual level, other than holding someone else accountable.

How can I put the pressure on someone else to make my conditions better?

Nothing! Complain about what u dont like, then be nonchalant about the things you do like...

Even if this was a joke or not I agree with this.

Keeps you on ya toes.

The danger is people show their anger on twitter facebook etc. The filters mean they are showing their anger to people that agree with them no one sees an alternative opinion.

We need black men and black women to become lobbyists to push are agenda on our behalf in Washington D.C ,because if we don't these politicians are not going give a damn about courting our votes in the future when we are eventually replace by Latinos/Hispanic population .

The irony of this whole conversation is that people believe change will come by sitting at home. These same people that claim voting doesn't matter only vote in presidential elections. These same people that claim voting doesn't count couldn't name their state reps without a Google search. It's like getting upset at a TV that doesn't work because u haven't plugged it in.

They repeat talking points and make false equivalencies instead of actually researching. It's hilarious and sad at the same time.

You're making a lot of assumptions in this post smh

Black people do not exercise their power. We've been convinced that voting is the ultimate power of the people. Never questioning who told us this nor really understanding how laws come about and how power is exchanged in this society.

Black people can actually learn how the system works instead of just goin by what they momma, daddy, preacher man, and white man told them.

After we learn how the system works we have to be futurists, visionaries. Black people are reactionaries which means that by the time we move on something it's too late.

We have to look toward a future and design a future where we can flip the script.

For example the world is on the verge of a paradigm shift. We are about to go through another industrial revolution where human labor is going to be replaced by robotic and AI labor.

Knowing this information how can we act to make sure that when shit gets shaken up again we dont end up on the bottom again?

People like you give people like Trump a great chance of getting elected.

Aren't you white? Instead of trying to throw black people off of their square, why don't you talk to your people and come up with a plan to vote for an opposing party?

Your comment is in bad taste, as you surely understand, your circumstances in this country are far different from ours. We are NOT apart of your system.

@manofmorehouse

The very first word and image you see when you click on this thread is "Action". Everything I spoke about was about application aka action. This whole thread is dedicated to discussing and applying alternative solutions. Not one person in here encouraged anyone to "sit at home" nor will they.

The question is what are our alternatives to voting? And can we change things without voting?
