Lil Wayne Producer Hits YMCMB W/ $20 Mil Suit

Deezle accuses label of failing to pay for his work on Carter III tracks…

It’s been almost three years since its release and Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III continues to make headlines. This past week Darius “Deezle” Harrison announced that he is suing Young Money Entertainment and Cash Money Records claiming that he’s owed more than $20 million for his work on the multi-platinum selling disc.

The producer, who worked on such tracks as CIII’s “Lollipop, “Whip It”, “Prostitue 2”, and “Action”, as well as “Mrs. Officer” and “Let the Beat Build,” claims he has yet to paid.

A rep for YMCMB has yet to comment on the suit.

This is just the latest accusation against the label. Last year producer Jim Jonson sued Weezy and YMCMB for over $500,000 for failing to pay him royalties on his work on “Lollipop.” Play-N-Skillz also In 2009 Play-n-Skillz publicly claimed that they had yet to receive any money for their work on “Got Money,” another single from Wayne’s multi-platinum selling LP, Tha Carter III

how many producers worked on that damn lollipop track.. cause none of them seem to have got paid...

Hell yeah. Shit, I'd still try to work with them niggas too.

The benefits out weigh the obvious risk. Especially if it's a placement for a single.

Hell nah, all that drama and court shit is unnecessary. At some point it's like " Ok, fuck these niggas. I don't wanna keep going through this stuff every time I give y'all a beat"

Bangladesh has made hit singles with Ludacris, 8 Ball, and even Kelis. But that nigga's career REALLY took off when he produced "A millie". Now that nigga all over the place getting work. According to him, he didn't get paid right either. But having his name being tied to "A millie" opened up ALOT of new opportunities for him. And since he produced "6 foot 7 foot", obviously shit must have gotten resolved.

Yeah, I'd risk it.

People need to understand that for a producer, scoring major production credits is just as important, if not MORE important, than getting paid (initially). Its important to establish a track record. Then you can use those credits to give you leverage for other placements and beat sales in the future.
