The same way I don't believe women when they say they didn't know their men were abusive. I don't believe men when they say they didn't know their women were shitty. People just aren't that good at hiding their true natures. Not everyone is a world class con.

Women don't want to see it. Usually men see it, but don't care. When you get past 25 your power of discernment game should be at a good level. Women do change, but most women will show you tendencies. Whether its through social media, how they carry themselves, or the people they associate with. There are some women that are professionals. They know what to say, act, and do to hide their true character. But thats still the minority as opposed to the majority.

I think a lot of dudes see a body they like, know the woman isnt wife material but go in anyway and hope for the best. Women have an idea about a dude being nothing but put their head in the sand.
