I've done plenty of grappling in street fights, often opponent initiated. If homeboys come, homeboys come.
Average street fight for me past age 21 was rarely a big group on group situation or getting jumped. It was usually at a bar, or outside a bar. If they get closer, you can steer him around or just let go. Most people are focused on the choke and get away if you let go.
One on three are bad odds in any situation. It takes only a second to quickly close in on somebody by themselves if you have two or more people. They all rush in together, smothering you. Been on both ends of that.
