Alicia still got it and if her and Swizz are happy then who cares what the rest of these hating ass hoes got to say, smh at people thinking Alicia committed career suicide by marrying Swizz, if Alicia started singing about sucking dick, liquor, sex, how hard she is, pokerfaces and how she still got her money she would still be able to go double/triple plat, the girl fell in love, didnt let "no one get in the way of how she was feeling", got married and is living happy and still successful, these hoes trying to sound smart and trying to demonize Alicia need to shut the fuck up

It also hurt her image when the story came out that mashonda & son were basically living in a condemned mansion and they hadn't heard from dude for months. I stopped digging her then. I can't get serious with a woman that cares not for my seed.

I don't think marriage or the issues involved with her getting with Swizz contributed to where she's at now. She was involved with Swizz around the time As I Am was out. That album was still huge in spite of everything. While Alicia isn't as big or as popular as she once was, she's still one of the biggest artist in R&B. I think the decline in her popularity and quality of music is three main reasons:
1) R&B as a whole isn't as commercially viable as it once was.
2) The chemistry between Alicia and Kerry Brothers seems to have diminished. Early in her career, he produced and co-produced some of her best and biggest songs. The stuff they did together on Element of Freedom wasn't as great as some of the Bhasker productions on the same album and nowhere near the quality of past Krucial Keys productions. Brothers was absent altogether on her latest album, Girl on Fire.
3) Alicia admittedly writes songs that are out of her vocal range.

Her current tour is doing very well so I doubt it's that much of a fall off. Just think she fell victim to the way we consume music now. Unless you dropping something every year, you have to be one of a handful of artists who can take years off and come back to the same record sales.

As I Am and The Element of Freedom both sold well and she was with Swizz when those came out. Hell The Element of Freedom sold over 4 million world wide and that was at the height of the drama about Swizz/Mashonda/Alicia Keys

At some point though, you decide whether or not to get divorced...being that the process can drag out at times, Swizz and Mashonda were apart for over a year according to Mashonda, how long should 2 people who are separated wait to start seeing other people when you know you not getting back together with your spouse?
