I like the concept of developing different characters apart and reuniting them later. You can build two worlds at once.
When you have two casts/groups like this it expands the story. They definitely gave you something big last week and then leveled you out this week. That's how addiction works. When you try to beat last weeks high you OD.
The problem with TWD is that the pacing is slow as fuck. it's too much like "a day in the life." showing characters doing nothing. You can do a story of ups and downs but there needs to be substance there.
This week had a little substance but was mostly an introduction to a new group.
