Why bother ? I can't take it with me. The only positive I could see from it is if I'm learning some shit I could actually use when it's over.

Meanwhile in the real world, people broke and jobless ?

Anybody who hooks their brain up to a virtual world is an idiot because it will be hacked and instead of paradise you will end up in a hell world where your virtual body is eaten alive by a monster, digested and shitted out again over and over again

People spend more and more time into VIRTUAL life, throughout their smartphones, Laptops and Video games. Do you think that the society will be divided soon?

ive said this before... science fiction keeps telling us we are going to be our own demise... i feel humans are "too smart" for our own good... we are too greedy... the moment we find out something new our minds dont think "how can we use this to help us" its "how can we use this to make money"...

Plus look at the Japanese.. they are easily the most technological in the world... and they are easily the strangest group in the world... they have said that they can literally go extinct based off the fact that the men would rather stay locked into a virtual world than experience life.. and the women are becoming more and more independent.. lol they literally have "cuddle shops" where people pay to have human interaction.. smh..

As a matter of principle I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to spending the rest of my life hooked up to a virtual reality machine that simulates a hallucinatory world that 'seems' as real and authentic as 'real' life, depending on what my experience in this simulated world would be like. Happiness is happiness and what I perceive is real whether it represents an 'objective' external or inter-subjectively shared reality or not (I don't actually believe a mind-independent physical world exists). I would have to believe that the people I come across in my mind are real sentient beings and not just figments of my 'imagination' (this artificially induced simulation), though. The single only reason why I would not want to be hooked up to this machine (assuming I would experience as much, if not more, happiness in this simulation than I would in the 'real' world) is that nothing I did could benefit anyone else, I couldn't adopt a real life cat or dog who needed a home, feed real life birds, have relationships with real life people, donate money to charities that would help real life people etc. I'm not very altruistic but if anyone would benefit from my not being plugged into the machine then I would have to consider them. If everyone, including non-human animals, were either hooked up to this machine or nothing I could do could make them any happier then it could be heaven on Earth. You could fly, have sex/a romantic relationship with anyone you wanted to, live in your favorite stories, play with magic and have certain superpowers and experience anything you wanted to. I like the idea of people being plugged into the same machine so at least some of the people you interacted with would be real, independent beings.

Even if no one spends the rest of their life in one I hope virtual reality becomes a reality. Our lives could be so much better because of it. Dreams can be great but they're random/involuntary, sometimes bad or even just mediocre, we don't remember them vividly and they last for a relatively short time, even if they came up with some kind of a lucid dream pill (it would be cool if they could do that or a pill to help us remember them vividly), it would be less fun, for me, to think I was the only one experiencing the world I created.

eventually we will have no choice; everything will be ran by newer tech.. if u decide to not take part in it, I think you'll more than likely be left out of a lot of things..

Great point, but society is very already divided.

The IC is a virtual community we all spend time in but the difference is some may plug in to the IC to be or live vicariously through their "internet character".
