Tale of the tape

Usher:

- Club music

- Babymaking music

- Great dancer

- Great live performer

- Better at hitting high notes...maybe

R. Kelly:

- Club music

- Babymaking music

- Uplifting soul music that inspires

- Wedding music for grown folks

- Potential GOAT r&b live performer

- More versatile singing voice

- Writes most of his own shit as well as others

- Produces smash hits for own albums

- Produces smash hits for other artists both r&b and rap

- Finds and creates superstar artists

- Longer album rolodex

- Created Trapped in the Closet which even though is coonery is more creative than anything Usher has ever done

- Never changed his style to appeal to the masses like Usher did

This topic even existing is disrespectful to Kells to be honest. Literally the only thing Usher does on a higher level is dance. Musically, R. Kelly's talent is a few levels above his. That's not anything against Usher, he's one of the greatest artists of our generation. But R. Kelly makes him look one-dimensional in comparison.

I was with you until there. Kels is a great songwriter and decent performer but he is lazy at times. I think he has history on his side but currently his future is dim. Usher has lots of upside and in a way is the only person of this generation comparable though they are very different artist. Who are theses superstars he created?

Did the poll close or did I vote already? I hope I voted for Usher. He made some music that was a significant part of my childhood.

I would say R.Kelly easily. Writer, producer, classic albums, etc.

Usher got one undisputed classic and he rarely writes his own shit.

Usher sing better probably but R. Kelly just overall better

IMO as Usher goes there really is no one comparable to him thats in his "lane" so to speak.

Only one i can think of is Ginuwine.

And yeah...Babyface and R would be a better comparison....in which R wins hands down.

He's very creative, versatile and influential.

He done wrote hits for several other artists and he's got a wide range of music: freaky songs, club songs, slow jams, relationship songs, stories, inspirational, gospel, hiphop, pop, soul, etc. Alot of these R&B cats out now got there style from R Kelly - even they pay homage to him.
