some female performances:

Scout Taylor-Compton and Danielle Harris in both of Rob Zombie's Halloween movies. I thought both did an amazing job making you feel like they're everyday type people and on the flip in their most extreme moments of horror you were feelin it how a real person would react.

Jessica Alba in Sin City. she really held the movie down for me, a lot of other performances in that movie were too over the top and cheesy but she brought a great sense of low-key realism and honesty to the movie.

Sharon Stone in Casino. she had you so mad you wanted to reach into the TV to slap a bitch, it can't be easy playing a bitch that cold on screen.

Marissa Tomei in The Wrestler and Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. GOAT comeback for an actress, she's amazing in both of these films.

yes, we all know that Tom Hanks was terrific as Forrest Gump, and Denzel portrayed Malcolm X very well.

but what are some other roles that you dont hear people praising that really struck a chord with you. (maybe these actors you think of even won an Oscar, but they arent regularly brought up when amongst ppl you know)

Daniel Day Lewis as Bill the Butcher in Gangs of New York. GREATNESS. probably one of the best villians i've ever seen.

Jaqoin Phoenix in Gladiator. Amazing.
