Spike made some good movies, and some bad movies that reinforced negative sterotypes but also looked at important social issues. He has put in a lot of work to repair negative self esteem issues and race relations.
Perry is no where near Spike is his social contributions. You can barely justify the character development and morals taught in the crap that he puts out. We need to stop giving people passes just because they make you feel good sometimes, crap is crap and if you have more crap under your belt than you do worthwhile deeds, folks got the right to pull your card.
There is a huge disparity in the portrayal of blacks, and the amount of mainstream of recognized black directors. Stop comparin us to white america like shit is even steven, blacks have a way to go before they have fair representation in american media, until then every role we play, every director of ours that makes it, has a social responsibility to not fuck us over for a buck. I don't care if someone says Michael Bay makes all the same movies because MB is one prominent white director of hundres, Terry is 1 black director of dozens. He has more value and can do more damage to our community than Bay can, we don't have many alternatives.
If you don't hold Perry to these standards thats fine, I find that questionnable, but everytime you pay money for his films your voting in the most important way and supporting his buffonery.
