Police aren't going to do anything more then they have already been doing
That's not true. That's really just not true.
What are they going to do then ??? Violate the law more than they already do. Give the community more reason to hate them.
I'm just saying. I'm more of a numbers person. From my experience, when a police officer is killed...not even killed in this fashion where the shooter allegedly openly declares that this is retaliatory...just when a police officer is killed
period...there is typically an influx of citizens killed by police several weeks and up to months following. There is a direct correlation.
Show me the numbers
I can't speak to anywhere else. I live in Chicago. I think it's easy for people to assume that incidents like this will go without consequence because we frame our understanding of police-involved issues within a national context, which makes sense because this problem is widespread throughout the US. But locally, is where they will feel it and I would not want to be anywhere near Brooklyn at this time with that kind of climate. I would implore you to choose any major city and look at the numbers yourself (The officer down memorial webpage keeps track every officer killed in the line of duty). When something like this happens, there is this huge hike in the killing of citizens by police. Not only that, but there is a huge hike in officers discharging their firearms, as well as shootings that do not necessarily result in death or serious injury (which obviously is something that municipalities keep a tight hold on as far as numbers are concerned.) I have to sit in roll call every time I report to work, and I assure you that when an officer is killed, the temperament is essentially an implicit pep rally encouraging cops to "do whatever you gotta do, but just live to tell the story." Or my personal favorite for those who find themselves in a position to have shoot someone (unarmed), never ever ever change your story. Pick one and stick to it. Deny everything, admit nothing, demand proof, and file counter charges. The people in that community, will feel it.
