The nigga said 3 songs

Somebody sez they have had a ghostwriter and people assume their whole career has been fabricated

Yo @gns it's not so much the three songs. It's more of the fact that he needed them period.

I wouldnt say he "needed it" , he's been in the game for over 20 years with a classic album under his belt and tons of classic verses. At this point, he's just fuckin around on some Snoop Lion shit, there's nothin left to prove.

Come @_Goldie_ you better than that. Don't make excuses for him. Does it take away from him and his achievements as a person? No

Does it take away from his artistic credibility? Yes

Had he had ghostwriters for Adrenaline Rush or Kamikaze or any of his most notable shit, then yea , I'd agree 100%. But at this point in his career, I dont think it's that big of a deal. With that being said, using ghostwriters is wack af. Drake using ghostwriters during the height of his career is significant, I'm still a fan of homie, but now I put him in the Kanye Pop Rap category.

In the vid tho he said he did it for fun.

That he saw it as a challenge to take someone else's raps and upgrade it with his flow. There is a different type of creativity in that.

With that said there is no black and white guideline I go by, its case by case when it comes to the ghost writing shit.

But all your fav rappers have diff writing credits on their albums and id bet this happens a lot more than being exposed, reported or admitted

This is the point some of us have attempted to make since the Drake vs meek thread, but the anti-Drake crowd kept ignoring it because it didn't fit their agenda. Cassidy and others have tried to tell people that basically ALL rappers use a little ghostwriting.

I gave this example a few months ago.......

A young nigga starting out in the game is gonna write all of his shit because he has the time to do it, but a successful nigga in the game simply doesn't have time to write shit all day. That successful rapper has other shit (acting, endorsements, promotional gigs, possibly his own label to focus on, a stable of other rappers to worry about that are signed to his label, concert tours, etc......). Not to mention millions of dollars to spend with bitches throwing pussy at him all day.

With all of that going on daily, do I really expect a successful rapper to write every single word of his records?.....No, which is why none of this is surprising or upsetting to me.

More than likely they write the vast majority of their album......and I'm good with that.

I can dig it but rap is the only genre this happens

Not saying im for ghostwriters

But if a singer gets a song written for them its no issue at all

People still got love for the artist. Like for eg mary j blige. She dont write shit. Yet her fans love her and sez shes talking to them through her songs etc

Rap is the only genre of music where people get shit for getting help in the studio and rappers having expiration dates

Again not supporting it. It just strikes me as curious

This is a what about black crime esque post. Hip hop is NOT pop , r&b etc.

Once again, you are describing a POP ARTIST, not a RAPPER

I always liked twista even tho im always like FUCK chicago.

But if he can admit to using ghost writers then he can admit to using bone thugs as a pattern to developed his style.

Just listen to twista before 94, and after, 94. He use to rap fast for the sake of rapping fast. After Bone dropped, Twista had style with his flow. rhythm. medolics. medolics? wtf?

WHO TOOK THE TIME TO WRITE THAT FAST ASS SHIT?

IM PRETTY SURE HE HAD SOMEONE WRITE THE HOOKS...

HE DOESN'T COME ACROSS AS THE KING AS SONGWRITING...

LOL & SMH.. .

Having a ghost writer in rap is like being a painter but having somebody draw your picture and you just color it in then try and brag about how great of a artist you are.... Can't respect that in this art form

He said:

Well a motherfucka could never control me,

only tease me and hold me,

thats what the hoe came up and told me,

now is she bold G?

cuz in my mouth is where the gold be,

cuz i be pimpin em like Gold-y,

I said it before and I'll say it again.... Song-writing is common in every genre of music and generally accepted EXCEPT in rap where image is "important" and although we know them niggas not who they pretend to be people forget it's entertainment and get "shocked" when the truth is exposed. A lot of rappers have had verses ghostwritten or have ghost-writers. Jay-Z was one of the top ghostwriters in rap he even said it in songs. Ice Cube & Kanye West had ghostwriters. Warren G, Ma$e, 50 Cent, Cam'Ron used to write for rappers too.

In the long-run it's going to become way more accepted in rap especially after guys like Drake, Rick Ross, Kanye West, etc. are open about it. And you can say how they can "never" be GOATs b/c of that but frankly your opinion isn't the majority and when it's all said and done, the impact, music and body of work they leave behind will tell the tale and override everything else. No one says Eazy-E isn't a legend or a pioneer in gangster rap, same for Dr.Dre and others. Kanye West is in those ranks too for the new generation.

Jay was a top ghostwriter

Not jay had a top ghostwriter

It's only gonna be accepted by niggas like you

If drake had never got outed for having a ghostwriter you wouldn't be saying this off the wall ass shit
