It's wack no matter who do it. Hip hop has always been about originality and standin on your own two.

Funny enough the first major rap song to be a hit, Rappers Delight, has a ghostwritten verse.

Rapper's Delight is a pop song so that makes sense to me imo. It was never meant to be super lyrical, it was a party track

That was entertainers coming together to make an entertaining song and it worked

I think its funny that Drake had help on like 5 songs on his worst and least lyrical album (that the nigga was credited for) and now all of a sudden he never wrote anything in his career and he milli vanilli and shit foh

Stop trying to make this ghostwriting shit happen; it's not going to happen.

You fuck niggas know what the difference is between the chorus and actual bars.

Ya'll want the game to be bubblegum pop sooooooo bad.

We had to accept wack niggas a decade ago, now they want us to accept rappers that use ghostwriters smh.

Unless you're Diddy, Dre, Drake, Eazy E and people of that ilk you will lose credibility instantly.

LOL....you know damn well Drake doesn't deserve to be grouped in with them.

He's more of an entertainer than an emcee besides that there's nothing wrong with being in that Dr Dre/Diddy lane.

I consider him an emcee more than an entertainer. I think some people still refuse to give him props because he blew past some of their favorite MCs. Shit, the guy has the game on lock......Damn near everything he puts his voice to becomes a hit in the club and/or radio.

That Diddy/Eazy/Dre lane is an insult to him and you know it.....LOL. Even after the Meek bullshit, many heavys in the industry still gave his pen game major props.

I fuck with Drake, I just don't see him as a real emcee.

This is all I want from you niggas

To admit that you like his songs while at the same time acknowledging that he's a pop act

The fact that he constantly refers to himself as one of the greatest rappers ever?

You can't be the greatest rapper ever if you used a ghostwriter.

I'm not sure about that.

Its possible to have writers block and you have to meet a deadline. You might have 10-20 verses written but they're not really fire. If somebody in your team has some flames you'd be foolish not to use his rhymes.

I've heard albums where the rhymes are so basic I felt like the rappers would have been better off with a ghostwriter.

I can't agree with that. The rules are simple, write your own shit.

What about NWA's Niggaz4life LP?

They had to put an album together to meet a deadline, Eazy and Dre couldn't write, what were they supposed to do?

Ren couldn't hold an album down by himself.

It made perfect sense for DOC and Ren to ghostwrite for Dre and Eazy.

Still a dope album IMO.

You just proved my point thanks

3 songs in a 20 plus year career? I aint trippin bout that. He said he just recently did it just fuckin around on a crunk type track. This was post adrenaline rush, post kamikaze , but niggas quick to read the thread title and not check facts.

That's 3 too many bruh. But it isn't like he's Puffy or Dre status with the ghostwriters though but it is what it is.

Twista ghost wrote for Puffy

There's more evidence than that though

Nosign.

Rappers Delight is more lyrical than most of the stuff out today.

Once you get past the first few bars (I said a hip hop hibby to the hibby...) the song is like lyrical gymnastics. And they're not cursing or rapping about selling drugs either.

I think younger heads (MCs and fans) would do themselves a favor by listening to Rappers Delight and other old school songs and analyzing the lyrics. the delivery and cadence might sound dated, but the actual lyrics and composition is as complex as anything out now.

So those 3 songs he recently used ghostwriters for negates his whole career? In that case Cube shouldnt be on any lists either.

Twista ain't someone I would check for as far as lyricism anyways so him admitting to it even if its 3 songs don't change my opinion of him. He had some hot joints & left his mark, but this isn't something anyone really should give a shit about.

Twista aint lyrical? Twista epitomizes lyricism.

rappers should write all their lyrics, choruses can be excused.

I think using "Rappers Delight" is a bad example to prove your point but i agree with your general statement

If you compare the old school club/party songs to ones today lyrically, they are about even but sum of that 80's shit definitley sound dated

he took a load of weeknds tracks for his what people say is his best album 'take care'

jacked rappin 4 tays verse

got outed as having reference tracks and at least one but likely multiple writers

hotline bling was originally a cha cha remix till they hid all that

and more shit im forgetting. he is a heavily manufactured pop artist with a huge machine behind him, seems blatantly obvious.

The same posters (and their aliases) from the Drake -v- Meek thread are in here making the same failed arguments.

Why do you consider facts to be failed arguments?

How did you draw that conclusion?

Go to the Drake -vs- Meek thread and you can answer your own questions.

Like I told that alias account, this thread had opened the door for bitter individuals to push the same old failed arguments.

Niggas don't know Rap...Ya'll got unfair expectations of these rappers.

Be realistic, MOST of ya'll favorite rappers used a Writer before whether yall knew--------------

You know what, this the Reason...why am i tryna Drop LOGIC & facts here.? lol i'm doing too much .

Weeknd said he only wrote the singing parts not the bars
and Drake debuted Hotline Bling as the Cha Cha Remix....now him using ghostwriters on If You're Reading This is inexcusable and he's forever got that stain on his record but 2 of those instances you mentioned have been explained multiple times

But most of Take Care was ballads...

And when did he say this?

He said it in his Rolling Stone interview. Said the singing parts for songs like Shot For Me and Crew Love that were originally his were written but Drake wrote his own bars...

That's a cop out. Explain to me, or point me to somebody that can explain to me how facts equate to a failed argument please

Link me to a post in that thread that proves your point please

Because I don't think you know what the term "failed arguments" means
