All I know in a competition, it's a winner and a loser.

And rap is a preference. So ain't no winner and loser. Just opinions. Takeover vs Ether. Some ppl say Ether won, I say Takeover was better.

Outkast has some of the best music of all time because they made rap a art form and made the music they wanted to. It wasn't a competition.

Pac best songs that will last forever came from personal standpoint about the struggle and the love he had.

Lupe music is Godly because he takes the words and turn them into beautiful masterpieces.

Hov best records is when he spitting about the realities of life in the streets or trying to make it out the streets.

Naw best album was a work of art and that joint he did with Damien Marley was art at its finest.

Z-Ro records is like gospel over beats because of the reality of his music.

So you niggas can keep believing rap is competitive and that where the best music come from if you want to.

No.

You new niggas always want to rewrite the rules of this shit.

Its too late and I'm too damn tired to tear this wall of bullshit down. Someone else is going to have to do it tonight, B.

New niggas?

I'm 29 years old bruh.

And all I know the best rap music didn't come from a "competitive" point.

Then your a misguided nigga.

Because at the end of the day, all of those niggas you listed aside from maybe Z-Ro still strove to be the greatest. The fact that they wrote about their life experiences, and are word smiths does not take away from that fact. In fact, it simply reinforces it.

Kendrick popped fly over Control in 2013, and Lupe broke his foot off in niggas asses because he's competitive and thinks hes better.

Jay and Nas is self explanatory; its not even funny.

Andre just had a record stating his displeasure with the current laziness in the game, and ghostwriters. He takes his craft seriously and wants to be the greatest.

Whether its direct, or indirect, it's sportsmanship and competitiveness that they share in spirit.

Kendrick wants to be the greatest.

Cole wants to be the greatest.

Your Beige King Drake was looking for reeeeveeeennnggee all summer sixteen because he wants to keep his spot despite ghostwriter allegations.

They all say they want to be the greatest on wax.

Come on son, stop it.

tl;dr: Competitiveness fuels the art.

You can say you wanna be the best and mean that you want to be the best artist you can be.

I stand by what I said. The best music doesn't even flow from a competitive point of view. It comes from a real genuine point of view.

Didn't watch video but I'm not mad at that, shit that's how you're supposed to feel. Two is not the winner and third place no one remembers. You go hard so you can be number one.

You saying you the best, now it's time to show and prove.... I like the new found confidence...

Did you just steal a Nelly line?

Niggas who say the bolded use ghostwriters and justify it's use as 'art'. It is a fuckboy argument for lazy artists and complacent fans.

Lil Yachty out here tryin to be the best version of Lil Yachty he can be? The most supreme, polished pile of shit, in the midst of other piles of shit with the same exact swag because they all lack creativity? His final form is golden shit, huh? Okie doke, playboi.

Ya'll so full of shit.

Its no coincidence that the niggas who run this shit are directly competitive.

And the niggas who go by your philosophy are carbon copies of pure garbage juice.

Lil Yachty don't make rap music.

Yes that nigga do, he just sucks at it... Horribly. Know what? On second thought, you're right. No need to claim that bullshyt.

You was right the first time my nigga.

I swear I thought he was talkin about Rocky's dress/shirt earlier. Hell, it had a solo pic too lol

Hip hop does have a competitive element to it

But the best songs ever made don't come from that side. It comes from the true artist in a rapper.

You think when Changes or Dear Mama was being recorded Pac was in a competitive mode? Naw. The true art form took place and manifest it self over well put together sounds.

You think when Fuck the Police was recorded Cube was thinking about other rappers? Naw he was focus on the reality of being a black man in America

You think when Da Art of Story telling 1 was recorded they was being competitive or focus on telling a unique story over 808s and snares

When Em dropped one of my favorite tracks of All time "I am" that shit wasn't about competition, he had to get how his day to day life was going due to the game he had. Not to outshine anybody.

Artists are supposed to feel that way about themselves.. spirit of competition.

I don't agree with that.

Because rap is a art. Artist only should only worry about the art form not other artists.

Rap ain't a competition.

Smh. This is exactly y this new generation don't give a fuck about bars. Hip hop has a whole has a different set of principles now. No competition? Niggaz are literally going in the booth sounding & looking like retards. Is the the "art" you're referring too?

You posted a pic of these dudes and one that don't even rap.

You're dumbass can go into the thread about the greatest rap songs ever made and see 95% of the songs that was name are from personal viewpoints and artistic as fuck.

Which one of these niggaz don't rap? Don't try to disown these fruit basket niggaz now. This is the non competitive generation you relate too, not me

You grasping at straws, I don't even need to read past this point to be honest.

Those best songs are simply your favorite. And for every heartfelt song you list that on the surface, have no competitive aspect to it? There are dozens more with more mass appeal that do.

Pac was talkin' about the Westside bein' the Best Side in California Love and it's arguably more of a Hip-Hop staple then Dear Mama.

Just because Outkast paints a vivid picture through a record and doesn't diss anyone, doesnt mean that they're motivation to make good music isn't / wasn't fueled by a yearning to be the best.

Eminem is a spitter, there isn't even an argument there. He made a fucking movie about battle rap for God's sake.

Only point I'd slightly yield to you here is Cube and Fuck Da Police, but Cube isn't top 5. A legend? Yes. Pioneer? Yeah. Top 5? Nah.

I was ok with your previous comment but this is stupid competition breeds better products. Without competition we don't have Magic vs Bird, Jay vs Nas, Ice Cube vs NWA, Ect.
