all of this sounds like a bubble, operating from the confinement of the mind. and really if something is already there, and we just

havent disovered it yet, does that truly make it new?

I contend, to get a complete and accurate picture, which is still limited, we would need to go everywhere, because as you stated

conditions vary, and that if the law is independent of the conditions, then the conditions are something else altogether which each have laws of their own...and that is this "more understanding" you speak of. We can understand more and more, but

we will not come upon the actual thing. the closest we can come is a generic re-creation, an imitation.

We gain almost nothing going anywhere in the universe regarding our understanding of gravity for instance. There really isn't any reason to hunt for answer anywhere else but here save for a few special circumstances. This is the driving concept in physic usually referred to as generalization. Enistein's Special Relativity was a generalization of galileo's principle of relativity. His General Relativity generalized it further to include general coordinate transformations and especially gravity. At this point we only care about the behaviour of gravity in extremely high energy states and extremely dense points of space. The vast majority of places in the universe can no longer reveal much regarding gravity. We certainly can learn about specific pheonomenom binary stars or novas etc by observing them but the chances they provide new insight on the fundemental rules on physics becomes more and more limited each passing year. The horizons that we can see in physics are not bounded by distances or locations but by the energy states we can produce at the particle level.

scientist are getting closer to discovering the truth about the "Big bang theory"

I believe one day it will no longer be a theory but an evident fact.

Why would it be reduced to an intellectually weaker position? Theory > fact.

Theories explain facts. Theories do not grow up into facts. Theories can reach points of such universal acceptance that no one does research in the field an longer. There are no new papers on the sun-centered solar system theory for instance. But it is still not a fact just an extremely well support and established theory. Kinda like evolution for instance.

theories have a weakness...it can never be proven and are filled with too many what ifs.

facts > theories.

evolution is both a fact and a theory. I read this article a few days ago, it explains this well

Theory = PIMP
Fact = HO

It used to be a fact that Pluto was a planet.

Theory bitch slaps fact.

So your saying educated assumptions based off research and observations are better than the genuine knowledge itself?

please explain why

i agree with this...sound truth, but humans have this need to be more intellectual, more knowledgeable that intelligence itself.
i have respect for science, as i said before, it has done great things, but i remain skeptical that it can ever come upon
actual truth..I believe you have to be one with the universe to really understand the universe, you cannot understand
a tree by just observing a tree, even if you break down the components that make up that tree, you are still just the observer.
there is a barrier between you and the actual thing. Same with us humans, we observe one another, our behaviors, and certain
patterns that drive our actions, and we can make predictions of what some will do based on that observation, but not all
of the time. there is always the possibility of error.

That said, i believe we are all just dust particles floating thru the universe, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Living, we are just
another form of energy. Dead, the energy just takes on a different form.

Tx Theories can be proven. For something to become fact it was usually first a theory. Very rarely does something become fact without first being a theory and being scrutinized and tested.

they both operate from the same mind, and are therefore no different from one another in that aspect.

Educated assupmtion have little to do with theories. Though they can start there to become a theory it must have confirmation via multiple experimental paths.

Most of the time theory defines what we accept as fact.

Atoms have protons, neutrons, and electrons.

You get sick due to germs.

The earth orbits the sun.

F=ma

All of these facts became facts from a theory. Theories are how we generate knowledge. Facts will often refine a theory as it must be alter to incorporate and explain new facts and data.

Occasionally facts take the driver seat because the fact is so important or ground-breaking.

Light travels at the same speed in all frames of reference.

This fact lead Einstein to the E=mc^2 paper.

You will put your life on the line for a theory without much second thought. For instance, it is a theory that a Boeing 747 will fly, not a fact.
