What in the HELL is going on? I’m so serious that I’m laughing! Hip-Hop has gone mad. There is a rumor that Tim Dog is still alive. You know that by now, but guess what I am hearing, HIS FAMILY THINKS THE SAME. It seems there was a funeral, but there was NOTHING there to confirm that Tim Blaire was actually dead. No body and no death certificate. Generally, when somebody dies, the family deals with the “affairs.” I don’t know who handled Tim Dog’s but it certainly wasn’t his closest family members, my source says. They are telling me that they don’t believe it because no concrete evidence has yet to be produced that he was dead. So now there is a warrant out for Tim’s arrest. If they put an award on it, we’ll get out and look.

I think Tim Dog is more concerned with becoming legendary for reasons other than music if you ask me. The amount he was to pay was nominal at best, even though it was a total of $2 million. He was never going to pay all that.

A Mississippi woman is claiming that a popular 1990s rapper faked his own death to get out of paying her thousands of dollars.

On Feb. 14, Rapper Timothy Blair, better known as "Tim Dog," reportedly died from a seizure following a lengthy battle with diabetes. Rolling Stone reported this news via a report from The Source, but that link is now disabled. Southhaven, Miss., native Esther Pilgrim is claiming the rapper actually faked his death to swindle her out of $32,000.

Two years ago, Blair pleaded guilty to grand larceny for defrauding Pilgrim, KABC previously reported. A judge ordered him to pay her $19,000 in restitution within the five years of his probation period. It was all part of an online dating scam that was covered by NBC's "Dateline."

Pilgrim told CBS Memphis affiliate WREG earlier this month Tim Dog owed her money stemming from a "fictitious business deal." She also claimed he owes upwards of $2 million to other women he allegedly scammed. Pilgrim received the payments from Blair up until he was reported dead. After he died, she couldn't find any information surrounding the circumstances of his death, like witnesses or a location. She also claims there is no death certificate.

Pilgrim is not the only one who thinks the rapper faked his own death. Prosecutor Steven Jubera filed a petition to have Blair's probation revoked and there is now a warrant out for his arrest.

“I need proof,” Jubera told WREG this week. “I need a death certificate showing that’s he’s dead because as far as I’m concerned, he’s alive.”

Journalist Drew Millard, who works for Vice's music section, Noisey, looked into the story of the East Coast rapper's death and came up with more dead ends.

“In the eyes of the law, until he is proven dead, they have to treat him as if he is alive. And he is in contempt of court because he has not been making his monthly payments," Pilgrim told Millard. “It’s not really about the money. This affected me long term -- financially, emotionally, physically, everything.”

Bronx-born Blair rose to fame in 1991 with the track "F**k Compton," a diss at West Coast rappers Dr. Dre and N.W.A., Rolling Stone notes. His name has been dropped in tracks by Eminem and Nas.

The Source was first to report, in a post by a guy named Sha Be Allah (no, really), that Tim Dog died from diabeetus this past February, and it spread to other media outlets from there. That post has since disappeared from the Internets. Drew "My First Rap Concert" Millard from Noisey contacted Sha Be Allah to find out TF is going on here.

She Be Allah, for his part, claims that (a) he doesn't know Tim Dog; and (b) he had two, erm, sources for his post, a close friend and and a relative of Tim Dog, but of course he can't say who they are. #integrity

He was very adamant about the fact that he doesn't know Tim Dog.

After hours of trying to get hold of Sha Be Allah, we finally spoke on the phone late last night. Despite being the one to break the report, he stresses that he’s a neutral party in this whole whirlwind. “I don’t know that motherfucker,” he says. “Make sure you print that.”

But it sounds like he might be lying about how the post disappeared from the website.

As for why his post disappeared, he said, “We launched a new site probably a week or two after Tim’s death. The article’s not actually down, it was just cleared when we started the new site.” However, a search for “Tim Dog” on the Source’s website yields results from January 14, February 28, and March 22, none of which are the Tim Dog death report (view a screenshot here). Furthermore, a perusal of Sha Be Allah’s Source author page (he posts under the author name "pologod") yields no Tim Dog announcement either, despite other articles dated to February 14th that came from him (screenshot here).

(Note that the first screenshot is of posts that don't seem to have anything to do with Tim Dog and the second screenshot is from February of last year, not this past February.)

I couldn't make out the grammar of the following passage well enough to know what it meant.

Speaking under the condition of anonymity, a Source staff member who claims to be in the office when Sha Be Allah filed the piece said to me, “After several weeks of things going on, he went back to the office and told us that the guy was hiding or something. I don’t know what happened—some financial or legal issues. From there, you know. They’re looking for him.” Hardly definitive proof of Tim Dog’s life or death, and when I asked him why that post in particular was deleted, the staffer said, “I couldn’t tell you that.”
