Remember When Noah "40" Shebib Said, "In Hip-Hop, You Must Write Your Own Raps"?

"In hip-hop, you must write your own raps. If someone else were to write them for you, you'd have no credibility whatsoever, and you'd be out of the window immediately."

It gets deeper. Meek cut a vein that is going to slowly bleed out this phony.

hov, no win situation wasnt real beef anyway, k-dot wasnt real beef anyway they cool, if drake disses pusha t, pusha is as relevant as he's been since Lord Willin, why do pusha t favors?

Nope

Drake caught feelings over Dot's control verse.

u call him answering a question about it in an interview "real beef"?

"Yeah, and nothing's been the same since they dropped Control

And tucked a sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes

Ha-ha, joke's on you, high-five

I'm bulletproof, your shots will never penetrate

Pin a tail on a donkey, boy, you been a fake

I got my thumb on Hip Hop and my foot in the back of yo ass

Aftermath get the last laugh

I serve niggas like Master Geoffrey

Jump on this curb turn a shot in a verb if you let me"-Kendrick

Drake Na Wanit wit the Bwoy

No lie Kendrick's cypher verse was ass

His flow was on point tho, that made it sound like he was goin off to the average ear

Excuses ive heard for Drake so far....

Meek says you don't write yo raps

Niggas say "it's coo the songs are hot plus everybody does it"

Meek says he got pee'd on

Niggas say "it was just a accident I mean there's levels to getting pee'd on"

Meek says puff smacked him

Niggas say "we already knew that plus you didn't do it"

Meek says he ran from Hov Kdot and Pusha

Niggas say "so what he battled you and there was no good reason for him to battle them anyways"

Meek says his labal mates don't fuck with him

Niggas say "don't nobody care if tgya or stunna fuck with him and wayne was singing the song so that means he fucks with him right???

This is why I say Meek might as well just drop it...not becuz he can't battle or make a hot diss track but niggas gonna do everything in they power to try and reverse it into a L for Meek no matter what it is so there's really no point becuz all Drake gotta do is say the simplest shit and y'all finna be falling out yo chairs calling ether.....

stop capin, meek shoulda just done better, end of story. niggas outside on the corner in a wife beater in philly killin drake more than meek could

Shout out to Chic Raw..he kilt that freestyle

I told y'all that Meek got informant like tendencies by putting other rappers name in it to ease the pressure off of his bleeding. Running to Twitter over bxtch shxt that can be resolved by a simple phone call, throwing salt on Safaree to capture Nicki from his clutches. These are all qualifications of a h*e & it's sad that he has these traits because he has a son

We seen what would he do for fame, what would he do to get a bxtch?

Meek is the type of nicca that you gotta watch what you talk about around him because he might go back & tell the supervisor to get brownie points

Good Kris Ex article posted on NPR yesterday on this whole thing...

Stakes Is High: Drake Ghostwriting Accusations Matter More Than You Think

I turned on NPR yesterday in my car after work and heard RICO playing. I had to double check i thought I was on the wrong station lol. Then it switched from Drakes verse to the Quentin Miller reference track and then this interview.

If NPR is on it that means my mom will be calling to get my opinion any minute.

Crazy that Meek didn't use this in a sample...

"You a fan, a phony, a fake, a pussy, a Stan..."

And here I was giving Drake credit for B2B when it very well could have been this Hush dude who wrote it...

It was weird to me that he hit Meek twice but things are starting to fall into place imo...

His point was well articulated. If you are trying to position yourself as a Hip Hop composer like Puffy, Dre and Kanye, it wouldn't be damaging if you admitted to it. But Drake is trying to position himself as a wordsmith/ lyricist and evading the facts around him being a ghost reader. Thus he is a phony.

I like this comment.

I never understood why Drake was so popular. He's the Taylor Swift of hip hop, but more narcissistic and he can't write his own music. He epitomizes all the terrible of this generation, with none of the redeeming qualities, packaged in an inoffensive off-brand Canadian child actor.

He fits in PERFECTLY with a corporate controlled, demographically modeled genre. Anyone who expects realness out of it knows very little about this side of the music industry. There's no shortage of realness to be had in music, you just won't find it here.

NPR is nerd talk radio your hip hop opionon is now invalid for all hip hop related discussions.

Can we replace Drake with Childish Gambino yet? He sings better, acts better, cleverer punches, cornier nerd shit, probably writes his own rhymes. Oh he's Darkskin, Drake fans will never.

To say "he doesn't write his own music" is a bit of hyperbole b/c we know he CAN write his own music. It's what makes it that much more disappointing... I believe that's likely why the backlash isn't anywhere near what it probably should be...

We all know Drake can spit and the references we've heard ain't have shit to do with being a lyricist/wordsmith.

Meek Mill won this battle. A week later and the discussion of the battle is squarely on how much Drake uses ghost writers and writing assistance. We are no longer talking about trigger fingers turning into twitter fingers because it is a shallow diss. We would rather people to express themselves through spoken word and writing as apposed to violence. We no longer talk about about "his girl's tour" because in a liberal egalitarian society we celebrated when a woman achieves not shun. Getting "bodied by a singing nigga" is that white boy self deprecative bullshit that doesn't fly in the black community.
