yo, another thing. people who dont seem to care that they listen to fraudulent music, you really think you will hold that opinion for ever? dont think that you get maybe 5, ten, twenty years down the line and then regret the fact that you supported music with little or no integrity, that you were potentially wasting your time on nonsense and stifling actual creativity at the same time, effectively attempting to kill the little value hip hop actually holds now?

its a dangerous game youre playing here, emphasis on the word playing

and look i dont mean to go all sage and serious, but what you see as just entertainment and enjoyment now may mean more to you down somewhere the line.

lmao what makes it fraudulent? the fact that someone else wrote it? is that your main concern? what if Drake wrote his own rap about selling drugs in Texas, killing 10 lads, and fucking Monica Lewinsky in a lowrider, but none of it actually happened? Would you be goin on about "supporting fraudulent music" or would you claim it was just entertainment?

I don't understand your points about wasting time and stifling creativity. If you like the music, fine. You shouldn't worry about whether or not the artist wrote it themself, and honestly whether or not you like the music later on down the road has nothing to do with an artist writing their own music. opinions and tastes change as you grow older, you might start to dislike a Tracy Chapman album that she wrote herself eventhough you love it 10 years ago, and you might still love an Aaliyah album eventhough she didn't write her own music.

Fam, what is this new nigga bullshit? This is Hip-Hop not fuckin' pop, rock, or R&B. You write your own shit, period. It is literally a cardinal sin to do otherwise save for a line or two, or a hook. You niggas are worse then the lames who don't like competition over wax.

Smh, I shoulda just stayed on hiatus.

so who's to say we can't change it? This isn't 1977 anymore mate, you don't need to be out breakdancing while your dj scratches on the turn table and you hype up the crowd with your 100% authentic raps in the middle of a new york neighborhood. if drake's ghostwriter was writing his melodic parts instead of his raps would you still care?

You a bitch.

Ive been ignoring this shit but does drake seriously have ghost writers?

Yeah but Meek is known for stealing songs and concepts himself...

lmao taMEEKa had to steal the lyrics for a song called "I Got The Juice" where the hook is nothing but "I got the juice! I got the juice!"

For the most part, rap fans are naive when it comes to song composition, they think only the beat maker is the true producer. BUT there's a difference between getting input - someone saying "redo the verse, fix that last bar, or rap about this subject" and some giving you the entire skeleton of a song. I never looked at duke like he was trying to be one of the GOATs. He's making catchy singles, shitty albums and love ballads where he kisses and tells.

Platinum thread in the making

Shyt was platinum ages ago. U must mean diamond.

Silly question because I've not been here a year yet.....but how do we know if a thread is Gold, Platinum, or Diamond?

lol I asked the same thing in the T&Y thread a few months back... been here damn near 6 years now smh

Pretty sure by old IC rules...

5 pages = Gold

10 pages = Platinum

100 pages = Diamond

Before the latest shutdown I believe 100 was plat and 1000 was diamond but, now yea sounds about right.

I peeped that Buried Alive interlude on Take Care, Kendrick killed that. Either Drake threw him alotta bread for that look or Kendrick humble as fuck.

there is a positive correlation between a thread's status and the amount of times supergangster has posted some random bullshit/threats in said thread

A Reference Track is why this is really a controversy. Social Media, Radio and Mainstream Media can try to cover and spin for Drake but the cats already out the bag. We all know "Collobraiton" in the studio is much different than a full blown Reference Track being made. Rapping bouncing ideas or hooks is different than making a full track like this. Drake basically did a Karaoke show by tracing the same flow and using the exact same lyrics as QM. That's what ghostwriting is all about. A writer nobody knows of creates the lyrics, flow, whole style and the rapper just sings along.

Thus the real writer is a Ghost to the public. Sorry but that's not a lyricist, That's not talent, That's not an emcee. This isn't RnB, Rock or other Genre's. This is Hip Hop and every real Emcee prides themselves on their pen game. Drake is someone rapping out a fantasy of someone else's pen game. Drake is basically an "Actor" who's rapping. This idea that "He gave him credit" means nothing when nobody in the general public knew who QM was before 2 days ago. And even if they saw his name and they damn sure didn't think Drake was sharking his flow and lines like that. Drake tracing flow and lyrics while then proceeded to tell every rapper in the game why he's better than them over these years.

He's not a spitter. Also QM is "Credited" on what 6 or 7 songs on IYRTITL, so obviously he created reference tapes for those as well. I seriously doubt he did one for "10 Bands" and not the others. So since Drake got caught here, how long has this been going on? The burden of proof is no longer on anyone that doubts Drake. He has to prove he wasn't doing this the whole time cause he's the one that been exposed. You can't turn back the clock on the Reference Tape. Flex knew this which is why only one tape was leaked (I don't doubt he has more). Remember Puff never hid it, "Don't worry if I write Rhymes, I write Checks". Sounds like that's exactly what Drake was doing, writing checks not rhymes or flow.
