They were a big deal before most of our time. Especially down in WCCW and their feud with the Von Erichs, they were totally washed by the 90s and Michael Hayes aka Doc Hendrix retired in his mid 30s

Currently watching Shane vs RKO from No Way Out 2009 they should have had this match at Wrestlemania and did the HHH match at No Way Out.

Orton was hot and this angle is slept on. The only fuck up was letting HHH face Orton at WM. i understand that it made sense but HHH always flubs as the McMahon's savior...thats a role tailor made for Shane.

the hhh losing the title by DQ stipulation hurt them imo. who made that stipulation to begin with? it wouldn't make sense for Vince to do so after all orton put his family through

also, hbk and taker put on put on a classic earlier that night. Shane and Orton couldn't follow that

It turned shit really quickly. Orton vs HHH being a regular ass match was problem #1, if you have this huge feud why not go straight into a gimmick match? The crowd would have gotten back into it if the match had some kind of stipulation.

Problem #2: Orton fucking lost, you build dude up for months just to lose like that. It was fucking stupid.

Problem #3: HHH being the champion. it was stupid to even put the title on H at that point and how they did it was wack too. Sure HHH was supposed to be the savior but he didn't have to be the champion. They have done storylines before where the rumble winner didn't get his title match.

Problem #4: What you mentioned, Orton wins the strap by a gotdamn DQ the NEXT month...in a motherfucking SIX MAN TAG!! Asshole H didn't even do a direct job for his boy.

They really ruined that main event and storyline.
