Before Eminem rappers did not crossover to the extent that he allowed. You have to respect Eminem for that. But at the same time you have to ask why? I'm not gonna get into the whole white thing but the fact is that he was accepted and embraced cause he is white. He was allowed to take shots at relavent pop artists. This got the intrest from that fanbase, who found him funny going after Britney and Christina Agrilara. This gave him more more exposure by the media. People that would ususally bypass rap music would suddenly have an icon they can relate to cause he was talking about pop artist, dissing the pop king MJ. Thats a demographic of people that would not normally listen to hiphop.The hiphop crowd were only intrested in Em because of Dre's cosign. But we didn't care if he dissed pop artists. Hiphop fans did not make Recovey 3 times platnium, pop fans did. Rihannas fans. Pinks fans and white kids. Taylor Swifts fans.
