His whole Upper Middle Class, white boy who went to an expensive college, Suburban raised image made him look so corny yet the dude was keeping it real that's his backround and where he came from

But the majority of consumers who are young teenage females didn't buy his Album cos he didn't have any Gangsta or street elements to him

Still reading through this post to see where you indicated where Asher Roth embaressed himself...

B/c all i'm seeing you pointing out how he stayed true to himself... So staying true to yourself is embarressing yourself nowadays? Hip hop stay losing

I copped the album it was cool, the best part was the live instrumentation in teh production. I think Asher Roth is pretty nice on the mic, better than A LOT of "new" people in hip hop...

I Love College was never going to be his "My Name Is" b/c a) not enough people can relate as not everyone goes to college, as well as catering to a college audience is tough b/c the students dont have very much money and will download. now if you went to college the whole "pass out at 3 wake up at 10 go out to eat and do it again line" hits home and is funny

but the song was kind of generic in reality, lyrics were so so and not really able to market to a wide audience. IF they were smart they would ahve went with Be By Myself as a lead single

Who cares if he goes to college?? He could be on his way to getting his Masters, he's still said some of the dumbest shit I've heard a rapper say all last year. And his music fucking sucks on top of that.

People like Jadakiss that predominantly make Gangsta Rap Music Jadakiss has never ever had a criminal record

Other Rappers make records all day about being Gangsters but Eminem made a record called Soldier after he actually got greazy in the streets in a case that was very much publisized and he almost went to jail for

That's why he gets respect and others like Ja Rule who never had a criminal record or caught cases but make Gangsta Rap records get crucified

a criminal record doesnt make u gangsta....if ur a criminal the goal should be not to get caught...if u get caught ur a stupid criminal...if u get away with it u get way more respect in my book

But my point is females luv Gangsters it doesn't have to be a full time Gangster but someone who has that swagger and some history

Lets see if they like it when they're facing time for being an accessory to a crime. Or when they have to do a bid? Or when they're kids get taken from them? Or when they're paying lawyer bills for the rest of their life

It aint a movie.

I respected the way he kept it real but he forced himself to be nerdy like a marketing kinda thing i mean more so the way he dresses, his goofy haircut and overall swagger
