I'm not a Wayne fan, but looking at the charts, Wayne is on 10% of the hits on the Hot 100. A couple of those are in the Top 10 and are his songs. He has the streets and the mainstream audience. To say 825K is out of reach for Wayne is laughable at this point. Buzz means nothing for someone's that established with hit records that are currently on the charts. Buzz is only the end all be all for new and upcoming artists.

You're missing some facts.

1) MBDTF had major promo from Kanye closing the VMA's, opening the BET Awards, and having a 30 minute commercial (the Runaway mini movie) air on all the major music networks. Wayne's two projects were pretty much side projects that still sold with nowhere near the promo.

2) Comparing Pac's sales in '96 to current sales is laughable. That's two completely different climates.

3) Carter IV is the first real Wayne album since Carter 3.

This is all true. But the debate was whether Wayne was a bigger star than Ye. And the fact that Ye had more promo further proves my point. True, those two albums were side projects, but has Wayne had that kind of promo in his career other than C3? Ye's albums are always highly anticipated and get crazy promo. Every album he put out, there's always an event behind it. Even now, this being Wayne's first real album since C3, he's barely competing with Ye's "side project". Yeah, he got VMAs, and he just did Unplugged, but is he gonna close out the show like Ye did? And yeah, Jay's name pushes WTT further up there, but take away half those sales, Ye wouldv'e sold 300k, which still would've been more than Rebirth and Human Being.
