The word black & white is so over used as well i think

I think class is important a black dude lets look at the most sterotypical rich & posh black person the media showed us Carlton Banks from Fresh Prince if Carlton grew up in Queensbridge he wouldn't act like how we saw him act

Nas can be white but cos he was a Queensbridge resident regardless of being white or black Nas will hate cop's, he is poor so he will be antoi goverment so i feel if Nas was white but had the same life his Rap's wouldn't be different

I'm going to say no. Because Nas has rarely made music that caters to the top 40 demographic. He's seen as someone a little more organic.

What helps Em sell is not only his race, but he's a pop star...and makes music that caters to that particular demographic.

If Nas was white, he'd still be the same, IMO.

Yea, cause Primo beats stink. And that shit he wrote for Will Smith were not hits.....

/s

Why didn't he Write Hit's for himself that can do welll in the Chart?

Nas hasn't worked with Primo in a very long time & even his biggest fan's say Nas Beat selection is not good

maybe where ur from but not over here...case in point, Drake is from an upper class neighborhood, and whether anybody wants to admit it or not the only reason hes accepted as a rapper is cuz he's half black. also, here barely any white people live in the projects. id be willing to bet theres no more than one white family in queensbridge.

Being a so called Pop Stars means ability too it's cross over ability

Eminem can Write a catchy Song like My Name Is but then also Write a deep, thought provoking record like If I Had on the same Album

With being a Pop star comes charisma you need to have personality and frankly you are right Nas lacks that we see this in interviews

As much as Eminem acts like an asshole showing his ass and all the other things he does the public give him a pass cos he has charisma he is at home when he does interviews he can make people laugh

Eminem uses Production he knows the public like for example on Lose Yourself or Superman Beat's that are great to the ears

It's not about colour really it's about the Music too Nas is talented but he was destined to be an underground Rapper

The public know Nas strengths already and his weaknesses

See this is why i do my re search before i make posts

Queensbridge was actually a mainly white populated project back in the day

I guess Snow was as great as Bob Marley. White people have a history of taking black art and making it into something else. take rock and roll, that shit used to be soulful. Em could have never taken hip hop from the BX to where it is today. Be clear, he is a great talent, but his novelty is his greatest asset.

History will forget the countless cats who had the same style Em came into the game with. For you to act like Em is superior to Nas artistically is insanity. Without Illmatic there would be no Em.

With out Paid In Full and Rakim in general there would be no Nas

I will say with out 2pac, Redman & B.I.G. there would be no Eminem cos those 3 are his biggest influences

I think Artstically Eminem is better based on Eminem having Album's like The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathgers LP, The Eminem Show & Recovery i think Eminem has more emotion, more topics then Nas and Eminem can Write & perform very catchy Hook's buit also Write deep records

No one had Eminem's style balanced like him

Eminem uses Multi's but will Rap about a topic like being a parent for example but use emotion too so he can connect with the listeners also using a Melodic Flow & Candence

He will Write a catchy Hook Hook & Sing it or Write a catchy Hook but not always Sing it for example he Sing's on Cleaning Out My Closet but doesn't Sing on The Real Slim Shady Hook but both massive Radio and Chart Hit's

He will Produce a Beat with a lotta emphasis on snares and a very distinctive drum pattern Beat's like Renegade that all Hip-Hop heads love

He will Mix the Vocals on the racord

think about this

I think most people can agree if Nas was white he would be an underground Rapper like Brother Ali, Immortal Technique, Joe BUdden, Royce & Guru

I think with Nas sound, content & Album's he will always be underground regardless of race

But ok for arguments sake lets just assume Nas was a white dude that grew up in Queensbridge in the 80's rather then 50's

then he wouldnt even be near the level he is now. in 92 nobody was checkin for white rappers like that. White people were only buyin beastie boys up until dre and them, so white rappers had almost no chance. the ones that did made minimal noise like 3rd bass. Eminem on the other hand, benefited from being white cuz by 99 white ppl were buying most of the hip hop albums sold. would he still be successful if he was black? probably yes, but not to the same degree. the questions are not interchangable because nas and em came up in different eras, from different areas and their styles are totally different. this whole thread is pointless
