I thought the album was good though

The album is okay, you could say good, but that is not the point. J Cole gets 100 page threads for singles and he does not have a single that is considered hot by most, and that most can be the internet, the charts, or the streets. The guy just does not have the it factor right now and neither does any of these cats that sites like this have blown out of proportion. He is purely hype right now, because you people blew him way out of proportion and now the only rebuttal most will have is the album is good to me

I'm not I Jay Cole nut like some of these other guys. I don't think he's trash tho either, there are other rappers way more intolerable in my opinion. He's not the revolutionizing the rap game in my opinion but I heard the radio station play the guy's whole album two days ago and it was terrible, it was decent, I don't really see anything wrong with the guy rapwise. Workout does well in the clubs rather we like the guys shit or not and that's what's critical to his success....not no fuckin IC guys.

What I learned last year after the IC had me checking for Lloyd Banks and the shit turned out to be hot boiling garbage is opinions are just opinions and something so subjective as music should never make other opinions become actual facts until you as in individual check it out and either like or hate it. Then depending on what you decide that becomes your own reality and not other people's. And going plattnum doesnt necessarily mean a artist can't still be garbage. Selling double wood don't mean a guy don't have rap talent either. Some people are just gonna have commercial appeal and some people are not gonna have it. Star power is that wildcard that can't really be predicted it just is or ain't gonna be.

how much does he have to sell first week to not be considered a flop?

He has to be the savior that you people made him out to be for you to regain credibility. He has to do something worthy of multiple 100 page threads, there are artist that have damn near done it all to millions that will never get a 100 page thread because you hate them while you promote Cole, Drake, Lamar, and many others who have really done nothing to the masses.

I had been going to AllHipHop.coms music page for years before I started coming to the Ill Community. There are some good posters here, but mostly a bunch of little clown haters and promoters. Promoting a bunch of wack rappers that are largely failures on the mainstream level and niche rappers whom get exactly the level of recognition they deserve overall. Most of you clowns play yourselves when you fail to realize that you are not a hardcore fan just because you recognize the talent of starving artists or guys who are simply niche rappers that will never make it on the mainstream. Finally, you lose credibility when these rappers fail and you try to blame it on anything other than you not being a good judge of that old high school category "Most Likely To Succeed".

J Cole is the best exhibit of the above lack of knowledge you clowns have. Don't try to act like he is hated or that people are not going to give him his credit regardless. This dude has the best backing in the industry and is still going to fail on the mainstream level for the moment. You have no credibility if you think the issue is anything other than he was never "most likely to succeed". You people have no credibility because you can't admit when you were wrong. Noone hates J Cole, you blew him out of proportion and now you can't admit that he is a failure for the moment.

P.S. Most likely to succeed means that you have all the tools. Cole never had all the tools.

I see what you did there....keep giving yourself an out by saying "for the moment" for when this invalid point busts you in your face. Pause n fail.

I see what u did, which was expected, still acting like you were right. Still gonna promote this current failure and act like he winning just because he making good music in your bloated opinion, which got this hypetrain started. We making the crowd move but we not making no ends and that's a no-no, take it from Outkast.

no one made him out to be a "savior" and even if that was the case, how many artists have been called a savior in some way shape or form? why is that a problem for j cole yet no one bitches when others gets called a savior? is it really that serious?

oh okay so basically no one with common sense is thinking cole is gonna sell a lot of records. so you're the ones that are creating these ridiculous expectations on him.

I feel you though, for the hype that he was/is getting you would have expected a better album, and there's really no excuse for Cole because he had the creative control

None of that gives you any more credibility. The fact is you people blow some out of proportion (show a disproportionate amount of love for there few accomplishments) and hate others (show little to no love for there accomplishments). You are not credible and that is the overwhelming majority of posters and you don't have the guts to simply state yes he is being blown out of proportion on sites like this

BOB made more noise with his debut album and in proportion to J Cole go no love. Just another fact that shows this site is all about dickriding and hating, no-one to state the truth and move on. I like fighting that battle along with a few around here

b.o.b had top 40 hits like nothing on you and airplanes etc. j coles biggest hit is workout which peaked at number 85. so of course b.o.b made more noise but lets see how everything plays out first.
