The Reason Debates V: Sion. vs moedays: Sion. advances

First off: an ovation for both of you. Probably the best debate so far. Neither of you really left a stone unturned.

With all that said....Moedays...that was brutal.

Media consolidation is a huge reason why shitty movies and music are the most successful.

Beautiful work from both guys but Moedays brought some serious ether.

He took it beyond record executives and incorporated corporations in their entirety. By bringing in that aspect he was able to overcome Sion's argument of democracy in the musical medium.

The corporations can control what is out there in the most important medium in hip-hop: the radio.

While Moeday's argument is not always true, it is true more often that not.

Sion's argument is very good and there are times when execs will listen to the audience but there are times when they won't, example: Joe Budden.

The Mood Muzik series made Budden one of the most talked about rappers during that time and Def Jam paid it no mind at all. Execs had pretty much made up their collective minds that Budden wasn't getting a 2nd album and he didn't get it regardless of the popularity he was able to attain via the internet.

In that case, Moedays +1, but IMO Sion really couldn't win unless he went up against a far less qualified debater in which Moedays is not.

Sion's base argument was nonexistent. I don't see how the fans aka the customers can ever be at fault. They are the market, and the customer is NEVER wrong when it comes to running a business. You can't blame the customer for NOT liking your product anymore lol, that's unheard of.

Best debate so far, they both game with it on a subject that is really open for interpertation. I go with Sion he explained his points thoroughly even if sometimes they were long winded. Lol but moesday I felt could have had this if he got deep with it. N/h

If the customer is never wrong then the customer is right for choosing garbage music over good music?

You can't possibly believe the customer is buying what they see as garbage music. Why would anybody buy what they view as a faulty product?

This then brings us to why the Execs aka the people providing the product are at fault.

Lol @ there being a pure definition of what's considered garbage and what's not. That topic in itself is COMPLETELY subjective, especially when dealing with art.

Also, I wasn't the candidate chosen to debate this subject and I don't want to influence other people's voting too much, so I'm going to stop at my original comment, "you can't blame the customer just because they choose not to purchase your product."
