he had the right backing. He was on one of the most memorable albums of all time.(Illmatic) He was on the Firm. How much more backing do you need? He had the exposure. Labels knew who he was. He put out music. It was good music, he just didn't have that star power. It happens to a lot of talented rappers.

if u look at the year it came out it wasn't even the best album of 1996 and also
reasonble doubt was just a bite of all the other mafiso albums that came out
before like raekwon only bulit 4 cuban linx doe or die any kool g rap album

and it wasn't even super succesful like all eyez on me or the fugees album.

its a good album with dope lyricism, but little to no replay value. not saying thats the most important thing,but i prefer to listen to other jay albums over rd
